Default Now THIS Is Good News!

Will the administration tout it's good judgment to let the military make their decisions on the spot?

If you want the successes out there, talk about them.

Another good time I wasn't in charge. They should have blown the scumbags up! But I guess a warning is better than an international incident.

The generals, admirals and others in charge sure know more about whats going on than the rest of us. Let them decide at times. And also let them be in charge on the ground, seek their opinions and decisions more than any other, they got where they are for a reason.

I may have this wrong, if I do I'll blame to quickly reading weeks or months ago. I'm pretty sure that Trump gave the power to DOD under certain circumstances to give generals, captains, whomever leads pilots, to make certain decisions regarding 'fire' based upon what they encounter then and there. I'd say this is a time when a captain made the decision to 'fire,' though only in warning, which was heeded. I'm pretty sure if the Iranian ship had kept coming, a different outcome would have ensued.

This to me is only commonsense, consider what happened with wayward comms from Pearl Harbor. Waiting for an answer to request, failed.

Trump restored some of the powers necessary to those in the position to execute when needed. That to me is a big change, a good one.

Agreed! If someone gives their entire life to their careers, and have shown superior ability - then in many circumstances, such as this one, they should allow for them to make decisions.

Not to mention that those are very expensive ships, with even more precious cargo, if under possible attack, they cannot afford for decisions to be made after a narrative of 'what's happening out there?'

Field commanders should not decide to open a war or other decisions that must be made above their pay levels. However, when their men or their equipment are under possible attack? That can't be made by others. Yes, if the wrong calls are made, they will pay the price.

Default Really BIG, good news for a change.

Thankfully, we now have a President willing to Defend our Nation according to his Oath of Office. It should be obvious to the Iranians who are testing our navy in the Persian Gulf, that OUR RULES OF ENGAGEMENT have been changed from the Obama...WHITE FLAG, DON'T HURT THEIR FEELINGS ways of old.
Our President has put our enemies on notice..."DON'T 'F' WITH US! WE ARE BACK!"
