Default San Diego : DHS Issues Environmental Waivers To Build Wall

Very nice. Let us hope there's a flurry of activity with heavy equipment and a lot of concrete in the next couple of months.

Officials with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) signed a waiver of environmental regulations on Tuesday to allow construction of upgrades to the border wall and new wall prototype projects to break ground. The department issued the waivers to bypass “certain laws, regulations, and other legal requirements to ensure the expeditious construction of barriers and roads in the vicinity of the international border near San Diego,” according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from DHS officials.

    ...

DHS reported the San Diego Sector is one of the most active areas for both human and drug smuggling. “In fiscal year 2016 alone, the United States Border Patrol apprehended more than 31,000 illegal aliens and seized 9,167 pounds of marijuana and 1,317 pounds of cocaine in the San Diego Sector,” officials wrote.

Using environmental lawsuits in the old sue-and-settle practice with a friendly EPA to stop progress for a project was a favorite tactic under Obama's administration. Now with Pruitt not playing these games anymore, it looks like DHS has neatly sidestepped the certainty of lawsuits designed to stop and/or slow progress of the wall.

Countdown to folks with lesser IQ's, that will "hahaha. oh no, Breitbart, Bannon..." because they are unable to prove any facts wrong, or because they don't like the article.

The scumbags entering the country are down about 70%. A wall will finish the job.

I'm sure this will make the foaming thicker and more obvious. Just adding onto the OP article.

Trump Administration Expediting Border Wall Construction

Despite opposition from the media, Democrats and RINO Republicans, President Trump is moving forward with construction of the border wall. U.S. officials will begin easing environment laws for the border near San Diego.

    Reuters reports:

"The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said on Tuesday it would waive environmental and related laws in order to expedite building security-related barriers and roads along the nation’s border with Mexico near San Diego.

The projects would focus on about 15 miles (24 km) of the frontier extending eastward from the Pacific Ocean as part of President Donald Trump’s planned wall between the United States and Mexico, the DHS said in a statement. It said the area is one of the busiest U.S. border sections.

“The sector remains an area of high illegal entry for which there is an immediate need to improve current infrastructure and construct additional border barriers and roads,” the DHS said.

The department will oversee the installation of extra barriers, roads, lights, cameras and sensors on the border under the authority of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) of 1996, the statement said.

The act grants the secretary of homeland security authority to waive requirements to comply with various laws to ensure the building of barriers and roads, while being mindful of cultural and environmental impacts, the statement said."

The Wall is a big promise. Come hell or high water, it needs to be built ASAP or there will be consequences in 2018.

Admittedly, we're only 7 months in and this is a monumental project, but there's no actual construction as of yet and that's a concern for me.

I wonder how the Deportation Catapults are coming along in El Paso?

Earlier there were plans for companies to build short sections of their proposed wall design, somewhere here in San Diego. They said they would be built in mid- or late-July. So far I haven't seen any, and I've driven down to the border specifically to look for them. Nada.

Any idea if the environmental restrictions were cleared away just so these companies could build the "demo sections" of their wall designs?
