Instead of posting a picture of somewhere I've been in the military in a thread not devoted to that topic, I though what the heck, start a thread for us veterans to post pics of our military past. I didn't take this but none the less the view is the same. It's looking towards Las Vegas from the flight line at Nellis AFB. I will dig up more pics that I DID take though, and I would genuinely enjoy looking at any other pics from veterans travels...

The barracks I lived in when I got to Nellis AFB. I moved out pretty quick though even though I was under rank, I was married and allowed to move off base. I missed the in flight kitchen back window midnight chow though. Just walk over and get a couple cheese burgers and fries at the window...

Here's one though, a YOUNG A1C troop working in the 474th Component Repair Squadron bench testing a Flight Director Bombing Computer... circa 1980... COTTON fatigues...

"circa" 1980? I'm guessing that was on the '70's side of 1980. Were you listening to the Doobie Brothers when that pic was taken?

Alright, I'm done messing with the picture. I'm not much of a picture taker, I kind of wish now that I had some. I never took one.

1980. Nellis AFB Las Vegas, NV.

My base photographer buddy took that pic. You needed a classified clearance to get into that shop, and cameras were strictly not allowed... unless you're an AF photographer.

This would be me in the fall of 1972, on board the Cutter Sherman.

And then in the summer of 1974. It was my graduation from Machinery Technician School and yes, I was #1 in the class.

Oh yeah. More fun with the 12 hour shifts, every day for six months or more too!

Best part was in rough seas. No privacy, and being overworked were normal in a 3 section watch bill. I don't miss that part at all. Claustrophobic guys spent their days in the head...if you get my Drift???
