    Default Leftwingut Telethon

Don't miss it on CBS tonight. Their usual dog-n-pony show for Harvey victims. Too bad there are probably nice, sincere people hidden behind the screen of the usual Hollyweirdo's giving. I have no problem with giving, but I wouldn't want anyone giving me squat so they can get their mugs on screen saying "I gave".

I'm not finding anything for tonight, but September 12. If you want to avoid it, mostly I recommend something on DVD:

I do wonder what happens if Hurricane Harvey causes much damage to the South/East.

There is absolutely no #%^*+}{€ way I would allow that to be on in my home, let alone watch it.

I am perfectly capable of donating to causes I believe in. I need no help from Hollywood hypocrites.

I'm just going by what I heard on the news. Trust me, I can find something else to do .

Since Hollyweird is in such bad shape, with low ratings, and a terrible movie Summer. I tend to wonder...How much of anything actually collected for Harvey, will actually go to the People who need it?
I suspect the CLINTON FOUNDATION might have a hand in it too! We know Obama won't be involved since he's too busy helping RAHM in Chicago...trimming the Black population down...one weekend at a time.

Said the same thing to my kids. By the time everyone associated from Hollyweird gets a finger in, there' might be enough left for a Big Mac.

I will not donate to the Red Cross ever. During the fires in Northern California in 2015 the church I was working with donated food, clothing, water...All kinds of stuff. The Red Cross said don't bring any more items we want money instead. That way they control where the money goes instead of having it all go to the victims in that area.

    Donate to Samaritans Purse instead.

I learned long ago to never donate blindly to any person or organization.
If wanting to help others in time of need, one must first be sure your money or goods sent actually go to the intended to help and not into the pockets of organizers with huge salaries and bonuses.
RedCross, UnitedWay, etc., my ex-wife used to write checks from our joint bank account to give to these. I paid no attention back then , until one day I found out how much she had been giving ..
I researched both and put a stop to it-as I learned that too much-- was being paid in salaries and bonuses to the top people in those organizations..

Sure they prefer money-- tis easier to manage to give more to themselves that way.-Tyr

    We like Samaritan's Purse, too.

United Way is possibly the worst, and corporations really strong-arm employees to donate to them.

I also stay away from charities that start with "American", like American Heart Association. Too much waste and politics generally. Oh, and Goodwill. The CEO's salary alone is a red flag.

i generally like to donate locally to places I can actually see.

I pretty much have come to the same conclusions. Samaritan's Purse certainly were the folks helping last year with the flooding in LA, when no one else really was.

The Salvation Army has always been good and historically has very low administration costs.

The Red Cross is usually effective in the immediate disaster and shortly after, not good at all when recovery begins. While Salvation Army still remains helping the poor and those who have experienced total losses with no way of rebuilding.

I think in a widespread disaster, once the immediate threat has passed, the best donations are likely from sources on the ground, that only local residents can really identify.

Default I'm sorry I posted anything about the RED CROSS.

I didn't ask, or insist that anyone do so. Just thought being a good American actually meant something that wouldn't STIR UP more BS.

Donate to WHOEVER you want. Holy Cow. Can't we get past being so negative all the time?

My apologies to anyone I INSULTED, OR OFFENDED.

FLORIDA IS NEXT...so...I won't be asking anymore.

. I think the people insulted are the ones who have donated to the Red Cross in good faith only to have all this recent dirt dug up on them. I'd assume the red Cross is what offends them, not you. And someone else will have to give you the details on why the Red Cross is under fire. I only know that they are. I have never donated to them.

I donate where I can see where it's going, and I don't donate cash. Especially as this is local for me, I have quite a few avenues to donate clothing, food and other essentials. No one's turned me away yet.
