Actually, I don't think anyone was 'insulted.' AT can send to the Red Cross or any other charity he likes. We all can.

As for myself, through friends that flooded in IL in '85, with water lapping 3' into their main floor and basement full, the Red Cross really wasn't much help, though they had received huge donations for that flood.

Then was 9/11, where everyone sent millions if not billions, to help. Again, the money went to the Red Cross, with little accounting to how it was spent, though the administration costs were staggering. Commercials cost $$$.

My initial disaster donations go to the Salvation Army, which sticks around and keeps their administration costs to near the bottom.

As I said above, which was an echo of Abbey's, Samaritan's Purse has been noticed for their getting in and helping people in a physical sense in rebuilding after floods. Until last year in LA, I'd never heard of them, but certainly have since.

Some football player in TX has raised an enormous amount for Harvey's victims, he has all volunteer administrators and 100% is going to victims. It's local. There are churches and I read something about a mosque that have been cited as outstanding. If I was able to donate, I'd be chasing those charities down.

Several football players have. You might be thinking of that defensive end for the Houston Texans. He's got a pretty big donation/assistance thing going on at cost.

I wonder what happened to the telethon CBS announced? I know I didn't dream it up. I was wide awake in this chair with the Channel 5 news on. You'd think if they raised so much as a nickel they'd be patting themselves on the back all over the media.

Last I saw, towards end of last week, it was about $13 million.

Lol! Wide-awake is no longer taken for granted by me!

AT, I'm not understanding what are you offended about. We are all just expressing our opinions here about which charities we like and don't like. I don't think anyone was criticizing you personally.

My apologies to anyone I INSULTED, OR OFFENDED.

AT.... Now you sound like a left wing liberal snowflake thinking that just because someone has an opinion about what you posted about the Red Cross insulted or offended them you should apologize. Who cares? You posted in good faith and I know you did not mean to insult or offend, however, I was responding to the original post and my personal experience with the Red Cross.

Anyone who is that easily offended or insulted? Screw 'em!

In truth, I didn't see your post. If you like and trust the RC, then post about your own experience with them. It could change someone's opinion.

JJ Watt plays for Houston Texans. His goal was to raise $200,000. As of this Wednesday, they've raised over $27M. $5M from Charles Butt, owner of H.E.B. food chain.

Apparently they had their telethon, and the progressive Hollyweirdo's couldn't just raise disaster funds. They had to politicize it. All the usual suspects led by Beyonce and Stevie Wonder. Wonder how much the name change from Harvey to Irma cost them?

Meanwhile, "merely" 30K troops have been deployed to hurricane devastated areas. I love Graham Ledger. He never fails to take a shot back.
