    Default My New Bear Killer

I've been wanting one of these for a while now.

Meet the .460 Magnum Smith & Wesson. It's got a bit of a kick to it, but it's heavy and that helps. 5 round cylinder.

The top round is 250 grain @ 2200 fps, the bottom is 325 grain @ 1600 fps. I'll be loading the bottom round for Kodiak duty - even though it's slower it hits like a truck.

With all the Kodiak work I'll be doing in the future, I decided to get this baby instead of the hassle of lugging around my .375 rifle because it's a pain in the ass to load in helicopters. And you can't quite carry the rifle conveniently around with you while working.

Now I just need to find a good shoulder holster to complete the setup... I don't really care for hip holsters because it catches on everything.

She's pretty awesome, but her job was only to warn us of impending danger!

Here's a shot of her alerting on deer over on the next mountain - look closely and you'll see 5 deer straight ahead of her about a mile or more away :

The amazing part is that the wind was wrong - she picked up on those deer from visual only.

I have definitely got to shoot that sucker next year at the cabin! Since EVERY flight there sucks and arrives late, and I'll be there on March the 1st... and I expect we hit the cabin on the 2nd, and then watch the puppies on the 3rd!! So I expect to pull of a round or two maybe midday on the 2nd.

Might be a little recoil involved

I haven't see that much recoil since the last time I took at woman home and she removed her socks - hobbit feet.

That would definitely break my wrist so I guess I'll just have to run faster than one other person in the group!

My front door, uninvited, forced entry, guest welcoming party favor...

And don't worry, Pete, if you were my neighbor and a bad guy, or two, broke into your house and I could hear you screaming in terror, out of respect for you wanting everyone disarmed, I wouldn't bring it over and interrupt anything. I'm sure that's the way you'd want it.
