How are you going to "prevent" this? Take away the Right of law-abiding citizens to possess firearms? It was a law-abiding citizen with a firearm that finally stopped the idiot. The disarmed Law-abiding citizens were all targets.

They are not positive, but are leaning toward a domestic dispute. The mother-in-law who attended the church apparently showed the cops some threatening texts. Which makes it all the damn dumber. He murdered all those people and didn't get the mom-in-law.

They confirmed his discharge was dishonorable from the USAF for beating an ex-wife and kid. He legally could not possess the firearm. He did however come up clean on a records check to be an UNarmed security guard. Go figure.

Now it remains to be seen how he obtained the weapon. Woe be unto the gun shop that sold him a firearm without a records check. There's no waiting period here, but they are supposed to do a records check at the time of purchase prior to releasing the weapon.

Here in WI private sales are legal. Anybody can even walk into a gun show and buy a firearm from a private seller without any questions asked. Isn't it the same in TX?

From personal experience with Active Duty members of the military. Most of them know how the Pentagon, under the Obama Liars Club...where Top Officers were threatened with termination....that Political Correctness, and the Liberal Fears of being accused of racism...was behind many of the NON-REPORTED people who were Discharged Dishonorably, or For BAD CONDUCT.
The political Hacks in Uniform, under Obama didn't want to STIR UP any bad vibes...like the way the reacted so swiftly to DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL....hushing everyone up with Threats.
