Then there's this video, which illustrated to me how little I really knew about who has all the money in America... and yes, I'll admit, I found the video a little shocking, and now being as this video is 4 years old, it's only worse now, and not by any linear scale...



My point with this thread isn't that I'm a commie, or even a socialist, but that I do believe that the deck is stacked in the riches favor. They can afford to lobby and buy the politicians, and the poor slobs on the bottom have to just piss off because they can't do anything about it anyway. I just hate stacked decks. I hate influence peddling. I hate lobbying. I have nothing against the rich. I have nothing against someone wanting to be rich. I do have something against the rich using their money to screw the people that have no way to fight back, so they just get milked.

Anyone who intentionally bases their life on wealth, riches, and being more prosperous than others...actually lead rather sad lives of loneliness. If any of us here guage our success in life on how much WE HAVE, compared to others, in any way. WE are the lesser successful in life.
Allowing money, and riches to control everything you do, eventually see's how terrible life can be...from the other end of the spectrum.

Like the definition of STATUS.....

We are built to strive, to achieve, and in the process, profit from the fruits of those labours.

Socialist systems encourage dependence upon the State. They DIScourage entrepreneurialism. Result ... the vast majority of Socialist societies out there lack the commitment to achieving proper potential. They're about promising much, then robbing people through high taxation regimes. Left-wing Unions, striving for wage increases, would swiftly disappear if employers always paid everything they possibly could, with no thought for profit.

Socialist systems impoverish, and are ultimately self-destructive.

The standard of living enjoyed by the average US citizen is way above that experienced by a Russian citizen. Why ? Because they were crippled by generations of fiscal dysfunctionality coming out of the Soviet way of doing things.

In my own country, we have our 'scandal' of certain citizens profiting from offshore tax 'dodges'. Why does it happen ? Because human nature drives people to take such advantages, as and when they can.

Jeremy Corbyn - Labour leader (Socialist) wanted the Queen to publicly apologise for the way her own estate's finances were handled. He failed utterly to account for, or even acknowledge, that Labour-run local Councils were THEMSELVES profiting from offshore investment schemes !! Since news of that emerged, the silence from him has been deafening ...

You can't buck human nature. The Soviets tried it, but the Soviet Union rotted from within itself all the same. What took its place is considerably more healthy (though far from perfect).

Given the opportunity to profit, and people will take it. It's really that simple.

...means that God meant the rich will go to hell? Hmmm... what I see that as saying is the richer you are here on earth in life, the poorer you'll be in heaven, because like it says, you've received your consolation already here on earth. I didn't get that it means the rich will go to hell... I don't see that.

I'm in agreement with SL, Abbey, and Darin. What other people have or don't, doesn't change my positions one way or another. Coming up with a new idea or product; working 2 or 3 jobs to get ahead; starting up a business and doing everything required to be a success, those are things to be proud of, for those that accomplish them. Truth is, for one reason or another most of us don't want to sacrifice as much as these folks. Choices.

Sacrifice has no merit; it is merely brownnosing. The parasites demand it because fat cats love mice, especially hungry mice who will take dangerous risks to get nourishment.

One of the economic bullies' slogans is "You have to want it hard enough." Yeah, that's for wannabes. But we are not given a word to use for "successful wannabes." That would be "shouldntabeens," which this declining society is full of.
