In the most recent Steelers game last weekend, Ryan Shazier, their leading tackler and just perhaps their all around best player on defense - had a horrible injury. He lead helmet first in a tackle, very similar to that of Dennis Byrd from the Jets years back.

He landed on his stomach, he reached his arm around to point at his mid back, and then he rolled over onto his back as he was pointing at it - and then he now lay there on his back - never to move his body from the waist on down again.

At first, they said it may be lucky, and a "spinal contusion", and could perhaps even be back in a few games or so.

But then news came out a couple of days ago, that he was flown back to Pittsburgh, and had a "spinal stabilization surgery", to keep all the bones in place. The first comments were that he may not be back to play again this year. That went quickly to he may never play football again. And now there is talk about him never walking again. Oh man, how horrible.

And to see how the players responded after the fact tells the whole story. This is why I always loved to be a Steelers fan, their owners and coaches have always made it about "family" out there. Some of these were from when they still believed it was only a minor injury. And then a bunch from other players around the NFL. Do you think the NFL players have faith and believe in God? Even responses from Penguins as a team, the Pirates, Ravens & more...
