I'm really not sure what his current status is. But last week after the game, he spoke from his hospital bed, and didn't look good and didn't look very mobile.

Yesterday he made a surprise appearance. Apparently the majority of players didn't even know he was there. They put him in one of the nice suites, and then had him make his initial appearance on the jumbotron just prior to the game, waving his terrible towel and looking MUCH better and so much more active. What a great sign for him!! And when he broke out his towel, everyone else cheered and responded loudly!!

Ryan Shazier makes surprise appearance at Patriots vs. Steelers game

Ryan Shazier did not want to miss the AFC game of the year. The Steelers linebacker, who suffered a spinal injury against the Bengals in Week 13, was in a suite for his team's game against the Patriots on Sunday at Heinz Field.

Shazier appeared to be good spirits as he smiled and waved a Terrible Towel.

The 25-year-old is recovering from spinal stabilization surgery.

He was placed on injured reserve Tuesday and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Steelers have not elaborated on what Shazier's surgery entailed nor what his prognosis is.

He shared this message to concerned fans on Twitter after the injury:
