When I was looking for a home around here, the first criteria was that it had to have an acre or more of land. I have neighbors, but they're far enough away that it's irrelevant. I have 6 lots. I could sell the wooded 3 beside me for probably $20K to $25K, but then have a neighbor that close? Nope... no way. The two neighbors I do have nearest me are either separated by a couple driveways or a road. Gotta have ELBOW ROOM. These people that live in these suburbs where the houses are built so close together you can barely walk between them, and they don't have much more than a tiny little patch of grass for a front yard that you could mow with a weed whacker, I wouldn't spend my money on anything like that ever, you have to be insane. Your house is like a sardine in a can.

Agreed. We called them McMansions - $500k + homes (in 2008), 5000sq feet, on 5500sq feet lot. Built with essentially side-walk space between them, about 10-15 feet out the front and back. hated it.
