It's not Democrats who are complaining. Most active military and veterans believe it is a huge waste of money and will make the U.S. look like North Korea or a third world Banana Republic.

I am not in favor of such a thing.

Veteran's Day or Memorial Day is fine.

Otherwise just a needless show of strength.

Liz does have some strong points though. Democrats want to comp on the
bit every time a Republican want to do something Honorable.

    Did you miss the quotes?

Me personally as a vet? I say screw a parade too. I hate them. Nothing sucks more than to have to work for hours parading around practicing for a parade so a bunch of unappreciative clowns like you can show up on "our" holiday -- you know, the one you have off and I don't? -- and act like fools. Send me a thank you if you MUST assuage your guilt by thinking you're doing something.

We can't even get y'all to stand for the National Anthem at football games. You think I want to spend MY time and effort doing anything for YOU? You can take your parade and stick it in a warm, dark wet place.

But for those troops "you support but not the war" that feel appreciated when you do something like take an hour or two out of your day from otherwise being a general f*ckup, it's probably worth the effort.

Oh, and I'm a "decorated Marine Corps grunt". That and 2 dollars with buy both me and the "decorated SEAL" coffee at the 7-11.

    Default Believe it or not...

As a veteran. I also agree...It's a huge waste of time......FOR THOSE IN THE PARADE.

Civilians have no idea about how much trouble, and preparation is needed for such an event.

Most in the military would rather NOT be parading around on their DAY off, away from family they ALREADY spend too much time away from for training, and deployments.

In the Navy. It's the same for those on a ship...ON OPEN HOUSE days, over weekends, and holidays....when everybody else is at home to enjoy the Holiday, instead of being a guide, or babysitter for people who come to YOUR FLOATING HOME...which has to be FIELD DAY'ED...which means WHITE GLOVE CLEAN...just so the visitors can make it dirty. Not to mention the full 24 hour day of DUTY when the DUTY SECTION onboard has double duty with cleaning, watches, eating, and working in their spaces (out of sight of the visitors).
Speaking from years of experience. Military people in a parade are just PUPPETS marching down the street...like advertising pawns that make everybody feel good...EXCEPT THE PEOPLE IN THE PARADE.

Sorry to burst any bubbles. But if you ask anybody on active duty. They won't like being in a parade.
BUT....THEY WON'T ADMIT IT TO ANY CIVILIANS.

My favorite was "The Commandant is coming as so's Mrs Commandant. I don't recall there being a post for a "Mrs Commandant". Double the fun? The SgtMaj of the Marine Corps is coming and bringing HIS wife too.

This mean some hapless Lance Corporal who managed to get the low end of base housing because he's got too many kids is going to have lunch with one or both of "the wives". Fresh paint, new carpet, life turned upside down, clothes for the kiddies and a stocked pantry and you're set for a 20 minute cup of tea with the Commandant's wife.

Some "honor". I would feel punished.

We had to scrape and find mooring lines and paint for the 210 ft Cutter I was on...USCGC Venturous.
We had to go to the Navy and take surplus mooring lines and splice them to replace our worn out ones.

Had to go the the Navy and get paint.

But when the America's Cup Challenge in San Diego came about and we were the 'host Ship representing the USCG',
the coffers opened up wide and we got all we needed.

Funny how politics and shit works.

Other countries do it because they have small dicks. We don't. What is the point of parading tanks down DC streets? Totally third world shit unless we're in a world war. Waste of $$$$.

You are incorrect. I don't have the time nor inclination to give you a dissertation on the multitude of reasons, but a Marine recruit could shine above you on the topic.

Parades in the US have been used as a "welcome home" and celebration of victory, not a show of force. Civilians have been behind them, not military people. The closest the line ever comes to being blurred is when a President is given a military funeral in DC. Your Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has nothing to do with the purpose of close order drill and the tactical use of it on the battlefield during the Napoleonic era, nor the practical use of it as a means of efficiently moving a large body of people in formations in an orderly , swift manner. Wars have been won and lost because of its use or lack thereof.

Europe is far more steeped in the traditions of parade than we are. Stalin and Iron Curtain countries use parades as a show of force. It's in their culture and history of which we were not a part. They're hardly "Third World" countries. That idiot in NK uses parades to compensate for HIS penis size because his brain has not evolved out of the 1950s Cold War. He's reliving the movie "Groundhog Day" as has been his family and country for 80 years.

But I'd as soon stay in the barracks on my Saturday mornings as have to show up to practice for hours in the sun to put on a show for YOU.

    According to hypocrite democraps...

    FAGGOT PRIDE PARADE - GOOD
    MILITARY PRIDE PARADE - BAD

    ILLEGAL ALIENS - DREAMERS
    LEGAL AMER CITIZENS - DEPLORABLE

PRESIDENT TRUMP CALLS FOR MILITARY PARADE - BAD
DEMOCRAPS CALL FOR MILITARY PARADE - GOOD

And of course the list of hypocritical double standards from the left seems endless...

Are tax payers paying for the pride parade? Calling yourself a conservative but then supporting an expensive meaningless military parade is the height of hypocrisy. Trump is obviously just playing to his base and you're the fiddle.

Taxpayers pay for a "meaningless" military parade about as much as they do a gay parade. The government pays for a military parade as it should. We're US Government troops.

Gays pushing an abnormal agenda at taxpayer expense SHOULD be on the gays' dime. They represent their agenda, not the Nation.

"Meaningless?" As opposed to a homo parade having... what... for a meaning?

Talk about HYPOCRITE, you got that covered in SPADES, boy. You spew it out but are just too stupid to realize you're doing it, not to mention your democrat hatred for the military is GLARING.

ANY parade costs the taxpayers MONEY when you have to shut down ENTIRE BLOCKS of city streets to allow it.
