We had them swim right alongside of us in the Channel Islands passages.

Saw plenty of 'whales' as a lifeguard.
On of the toughest rescues was a 300 lb
French-Canadian woman in a string bikini.
She was so massive that I could not get a control carry on her,
so I grabbed a handful of fat in her underarm to get her in!
