Default Friday nite reliving all of our memories with music...

    Lyrics
    It didn't feel like Sunday
    It didn't feel like June
When he met his silent partner
    In that lonely corner room
    That overlooked the marquee
    Of the plaza all-adult
And he was not lookin' for romance
    Just someone he could trust
And it wasn't no way to carry on
It wasn't no way to live
But he could up with it for a little while
He was workin' on something big
Speed ball rang the night desk
Said "send me up a drink"
The night clerk said "It's Sunday man...
Wait a minute, let me think
There' a little place outside of town
    Might still have some wine"
Speed ball said "forget it man
Can I have an outside line?"
And it wasn't no way to carry on
It wasn't no way to live
But he could up with it for a little while
He was workin' on something big
It was Monday when the day maids
    Found the still made bed
    All except the pillows
    That lay stacked up
    At the head
    And one said "I know
    I've seen his face
    I wonder who he is"
    The other said "probably
    Just another clown
    Working on something big"
And it wasn't no way to carry on
It wasn't no way to live
But he could up with it for a little while
He was workin' on something big

Fantastic voice, fantastic lyrics. My favorite song by this truly great artist..
And yes, I do enjoy that Tennessee whiskey but at my age now- in great moderation.
Moderation that I ignored in my wild youth.
A damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn lot of the magnificent lyrics in this great song once applied to me in my youth.
Thank God I survived it , even after all the bar/club fights, the deep losses, the agonizing heartaches, the blues and the darkness that always comes with such..
Hell, I could have wrote this song when in my wild , angry , violent youth/,,,,
That which inside some of us-- is damn, damn hard to contain, and even harder to ever eliminate..
    Truffffffffffffffffffffffff.....-Tyr

I'm listening all the way from the Caribbean and just wanted to say thank you to all the American Country folks out there for being who you are no matter your colour. I never heard songs with so much feelings in my life that i can relate to, but for all my white country folks out there also, man i love you guys, i could always find something to love in people like me but i find the difference in us attracts me to who you are even more. God bless you all and i hope we get over this covid thing together.

    this song blew my mind
in 3.45 minutes my whole life passed in front of my eyes..
I had the pleasure of drinking a glass of whiskey [I do not drink alcohol] I actually had a glass of water
listening to this "raw" voice and a smile lit up my face...
I said to my self that any decision I took was the right one
and especially the last 15 years that I left my country and I live in London .
finally my girl, you did it perfectly for you and your children ...
thanks Chris Stapleton that you accompanied with your song and your voice my life's journey
    Cheers!!!

I'm a black woman who grew up in Alabama and cut my teeth on blues, soul and jazz. But somewhere along the way, Country knocked on my door, and I opened it just a bit. Now, I listen to country more than anything else. This song, especially, has no color code. It's a perfect blend of everything I know and love. "Smooth as Tennessee Whiskey," and "Warm as a glass of brandy." Yes!

Used to spend my nights out in a barroom
Liquor was the only love I've known
But you rescued me from reachin' for the bottom
And brought me back from being too far gone
You're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You're as sweet as strawberry wine
You're as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time
I've looked for love in all the same old places
Found the bottom of a bottle's always dry
But when you poured out your heart I didn't waste it
'Cause there's nothing like your love to get me high
You're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey

This is the last song my Husband and I danced to before he passed away. When I hear it I can feel his arms around me again.😪💔 I don't know why it says John posted this. It is Brenda, John's broken-hearted wife.😭😭

You're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You're as sweet as strawberry wine
You're as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

As a man of color. This proves to me that music transcends race creed or color. As long as you pour your soul to a song You will get the meaning and feeling across any barriers. At these trying times with this virus. We all are one.... brothers and sister. And children of God. Let’s all get along if not for us. But for humanity. Love you all

    R.I.P Dusty Hill...

ZZ Top's 'Fearless' Bassist Dusty Hill Dies at 72: 'You Will Be Missed Greatly, Amigo'

The soundtrack of my youth is slowly dying...

Sad news and this stupid rona is throwing off the concert availability. Had tickets to Sammy Hagar for last September, that didn’t happen. I figured that was going to be my last chance to see him.

I damn sure--once-- lived this song.
    Youth-hell its gone--just a memory-
some beautifully glorious -even in their sadness,,
as she was, as she is missed, as she felt, as once she kissed....

I am older now- still running, still running.... Tyr

He must have written that song about me...
I --NEVER-- back down, and that is a mighty damn hard road to walk.
I look back and sometimes wonder just how the hell I have made it to this age..... -- trufff...-Tyr
