Checking out your `first` Carrier AT....I had to get a look and a small story...Nice...

    `USS Enterprise (CVN 65)`
SPLIT, Croatia – the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise (CVN 65), made its first port visit in Split, Croatia May 17 during a six-month deployment. Nearly 5,000 Sailors and Marines from Enterprise and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1 descended on the city for a four-day port visit and a little rest and relaxation after a two-week transit across the Atlantic Ocean. i have never been on a big deck. Those are some HUGE boats. Jarheads don't rate. You got to be a scarewinger to get on the Caddy.

I was on a sub once. Does that count for anything?

Harley Tech buddy of mine that worked in the bay next to me was on the USS Ronald Reagan. He hated it. Said they had to work 12 on, 12 off and there was very little to do otherwise and it got old fast. He got in some fights and in trouble for insubordination and was discharged.

The U.S.S. Carl Vinson pulled into Long Beach Naval station during a fleet week. She passed right off our fantail.

Our 210 ft cutter looked like a Captain's gig next to that monster!
I have lost my mind. If found, please give it a snack and return it?

Three days on a pump. The first one. The last one. And that L-O-N-G mfer in the middle.

So this is how this works. Just another story. I leave on float on Monday. The ex lives a life for 6 months. I come back on Tuesday. The World stops turning for us. I have no idea how it is now with this info age. We had to stand in line forever to make a phone call home. M last deployment we had a VCR. Do you have any idea how many times one ship can show Something About Mary and Starship Troopers? I know the scripts by heart and my back was turned to it.

Then you pull into port. Hopefully not one you worry about getting shot in. Destination: Beer. Nothing else exists. How fast can you serve them? And when you're in the Far East/SE Asia? 75 cents a bottle. That's for good stuff. You can get some Sing Ha for about 30 cents. Of course, it is not pasteurized and full of formaldahyde so you feel like you've been embalmed next day

Another true tidbit ... I can't stand hanging out with jarheads. I always hung out with the squids. They're entertaining. Jarheads are good for a fight. That's all they want to do.

Besides, if you smoke, the MM's have a shack on the fantail and no one checks on them. Pays to be buddies with swabbies

It's moored here in Charleston... great museum, great experience... Several things to there at Patriot's Point...

If we're counting museums ...The USS Texas, the USS Arizona, the USS North Carolina, the USS Missouri

I got go on a sub in Key West. I know this going to date me but ... I looked at a deck hatch and asked if that's where they kept the flying sub. I loved being young and dumb. Growing up just plain sucks.
