You want to control the media? Like Russia and China and those other dictatorships? OK then ...
BOOM. Just as they pointed out in the article. I get Noir's point and he made it brilliantly. The better way to address the core problem would be in shaming the media as opposed to regulating it. Start by establishing the left's blood lust and their NEED to see mass killing continue. Begin historically with their fascination with Mao (I'm sure most libs had their own Little Red Book back in the day) 60 mill killed, move on to old "Uncle Joe" Stalin-40 mill killed then on to the Killing Fields of Cambodia with 1/3 of the country killed. Then zone in domestically with their demand for 1 mill + slaughtered each year by the abortion industry, following up with examples of breathless reporting from Orlando, New Town, Aurora, etc. Finally do a montage of the latest shooting du jour and finish with the scene from When Harry Met Sally
This would focus the attention on the hyperbolic media coverage and away from the actual shooter denying the killer the fame they sought while shaming the media whores. Of course this assumes the media possesses the faintest glimmer of honor and self awareness in order to feel shame. The best example of this type of shaming was done, unwittingly, by Saturday Night Live and its skewering of Nightline and Ted Koppel with the "Buckwheat Shot, Buckwheat Dead" skit (I'd post the video but it has been scrubbed from You Tube).
Tsk tsk ... @gabosaurus. You just got busted skimming Read the ENTIRE article.
And just to start more crap, I have ZERO problem with curbing a biased media's "Right" to mislead the people of the United States. The Right to freedom of speech comes the responsible use of it. Same as gun ownership. Abuse your Right and you lose it. That currently applies only to the latter.

Out of curiosity, care to explain why you jumped in head first into this thread without bothering to read the linked article, where it's more than obvious you did not? If you're going to participate and offer your opinion on a posted article, isn't it reasonable that the folks who posted the article or the folks you are replying to - expect you to have first read the article, or at least enough of it to offer a valid opinion? Instead of instantly telling someone what they want to do.

List of stations owned or operated by Sinclair Broadcast Group
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sinclair Broadcast Group is the largest owner of television stations in the United States, currently owning or operating a total of 173 stations across the country (233 after all currently proposed sales are approved) in nearly 80 markets, ranging from markets as large as Washington, D.C. to as small as Steubenville, Ohio.
The stations are affiliates of various television networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox as well as numerous specialty channels.
Many stations are owned outright by the company, while others are owned by legally distinct companies but operated by Sinclair through a local marketing agreement, a concept Sinclair pioneered in Pittsburgh in 1991 when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) forbade duopolies. (The stations involved in the initial deal, WPGH-TV and WPTT — now WPNT — are now both owned by Sinclair outright.) Sinclair has established local marketing agreements with various companies, most notably Cunningham Broadcasting and Deerfield Media.[1]

Gabby, you need to do some research before you spew the Media Matters hate talking points. Are you seriously claiming all the ABC, CBS, NBC, Univision. CW, UniMas stations owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group are knee jerk, right-wing, fascist, neo-Nazi hate sites?
