Memorial Day 2018

Visiting with some old friends that didn't make it...in my head …

Spending the afternoon with my favorite vets that did make it (my sons) and have friends that didn't make it. We will tell war stories about those friends and keep their memory alive at least between us if no where else. It is weird that when we do this every year we feel like we all knew those heroes though we are of different generations. It is also uncanny how similar the character of those heroes …. selfless, humble, courageous and loyal....

Nice, simple, and poignant.

There used to be parades at home on 'traditional' Memorial Day, May 30, which is also my birthday.
I thought as a young kid the parade was for me, but my Mom took me aside and explained the meaning
to me. With Dad assigned overseas at the time, the meaning stuck - hard!
