The trip was a "Bucket List" thing, both the Lady and I wanted to take.

From a cruise to Alaska on board the Carnival Legend

After our next trip to the Philippines(to visit the in-laws), we may move a trip to Alaska ahead of my plan to visit Australia.
I definitely want to visit both places before I wind up in that long dirtnap..-

I come back from a 30 day RIMPAC, 3 10-day workups, and a 6 month pump and the wife is like: Let's go on a carnival cruise to Mexico. It'll be romantic.
Translation: I hear boat. Pacific Ocean. Third World Country.
Alternate plan: I take you on a "cruise" down I-5 where you can see the Pacific on the right most of the way to Tijuana where you can get your Third World Country in and we call it a day?
That's when you KNOW there's a definite disconnect going on
