    Default Lucky day?

So I was expecting a package from USPS on Saturday. It was listed as DELIVERED at 7:07pm, but I was outside!! It was NOT delivered.

Long story short, they delivered it today, so all is cool. This is the tint meter.

My windshield must allow 70% of light to transmit through. It is right on the dot, so all is great! The 2 front side windows are the same, must allow 70% of light to be transmitted through. One tests at 66% and the other at 67%. Yikes. But they look SO clear, so hopefully all will be ok.

Something I just thought of though that I doubt NO ONE has ever been confronted with before, but then again... the only places I can see this happening is NY or Texas - for folks that have decided to tint their entire windshield. I did that of course, and everything is legal. But NY places an inspection sticker & a registration sticker on your windshield. Inspection places use a 10" scraping tool and will maul that area of your window when replacing!! I'm starting to think I may be replacing the windshield tint yearly.

    ....

BUT, I also got this in the mail today, so this will make me happy for a day or 2! Or until the wife sees it and takes it from me so I don't irresponsibly spend it in less than 3 hours.

Shit Jim. Get it installed professionally. A pro will open
the area and set it below the visible leading edge of the door windows.

Or carefully use a plastic 4" putty knife and dry squeegie
To press out bubbles, or else it will look like crap.

Make sure the glass has been really cleaned, too. Use Windex
and newspaper to polish it clean first.

I have lost my mind. If found, please give it a snack and return it?

Oh, it was done by a pro shop, and the cost proved that! LOL

The problem is the garage where you get it inspected, and how nice they will be in removing any stickers.

The glass and tint are PERFECT right now. I'd rather not have to get it replaced when a mechanic with an off day scrapes off like 10 inches of tint!

The problem with it going over the limits is what is from the manufacturer. It would appear that Toyota sends off this model truck with like 80% light transmission on the front side windows, and like 90% on the windshield.

Back to the installation.... reading... I can have the installer cut out a square for those areas, but you're still at the mercy of the dang garages. OR, I can use saran warp delicately underneath and gently place and tape in the bottom left corner. I'm not sure how the installer placed those documents back on my window and I never asked, as I didn't think of it until this morning.

Oh...you left initial purchase documents in the window?

Installer can use a heat gun - like a hair dryer - and peel back the film.

Take the documents out and tape them into the window until your permanent Reg and tags arrive.

The vehicle came with the 1 year inspection sticker applied properly on the windshield. The registration I must wait a few weeks for, so a temporary is applied in the same spot with scotch tape. I never gave it thought before as I never had my windshield done before.

Somehow he got off the inspection sticker, and of course easily the registration and both are now somehow over the tint, just as they were when I picked up the truck. So obviously he somehow got the insurance sticker off, and then reapplied over the tint. And obviously, my concern is somehow being able to do the same when it comes time for inspection, to take it off and reapply the new one. But mechanics surely ain't tint specialists!

We do not have inspections out here. However, the hair dryer trick might work.
You could also carefully cut a section with a very keen knife so the legal
position of the sticker is available. Annually having to renew it would be a pain if glazed over.

Dumb question ... why isn't tint put on inside?
