Today was a long emotional day, but we all made it through!
We arrived and they directed everyone to the RPI indoor stadium, basketball place it looks like. Get in line behind the other 2,000 people to get your ID badge and keys to your room. It went much faster than you would have thought though. Maybe like 1.5 hours? But now we still have everything in the truck to unload. Well, not that easy. BACK IN LINE again, a smaller line at least, of vehicles in line for each dorm. That was like another hour before we got to the front of the line. But the school has it very well rehearsed! When we pulled up, they had us pull up almost right on a pathway by the front door to Jordan's dorm. They had like 40 kids there, college kids, in red shirts helping. So we emptied the truck on the grass in like 5 minutes, and while I went to park - they literally did all the work and brought all the stuff to the kids room. Sweet!
Parked and went back and found his room. Pretty cool, 17 and first time out of the house, and they have him in a co-ed dorms, and not even floor separated. I saw several gals setting their things up on the same floor as him - thankfully which was the 1st floor! And the board has some photos and appears to be 5 RA's in his one building. The cafeteria hall is like 30 feet from his dorm entrance. The only thing is shared mens room/showering, common rooms, is what it is. Also, pretty dang hot in his room and only fans allowed!! I'd have to quit college on day one! LOL
Went food shopping and some last minute crap and some electronic crap (I like gadgets)
So his freezer and fridge are full already, and his microwave runs well. Even got him the mandatory college kid box of 50 Ramen Noodles!
But eventually had to say goodbye. I'm not good with goodbyes. I'm not good with goodbyes when it's good friends, you can imagine how it feels knowing this is my child. Relief that things are done and he's ready to rock, but very nervous myself, for him I guess, and feel sad.
