The last time there was a mention of a fatwa was when one was issued against maestro AR Rahman for composing music for an Iranian film titled Muhammad: The Messenger of God, and he had given the Mumbai based Sunni Muslim group, Raza Academy a classic reply.

Now, Saudi Grand Mufti Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah has issued a new fatwa saying men in Saudi Arabia "can eat their wives if they are suffering severe hunger", reports the Mirror.

The ruling is said to represent the "sacrifice of women and obedience to her husband", but human right activists are enraged by the fatwa.

The fatwa guidelines allow a husband to eat his wife's body parts in extreme circumstances. Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah had earlier stirred a controversy when he called on all churches to be destroyed under the Islamic law.

Wow, someone needs to tell the North Koreans about this news. Many of them resort to eating grass, weeds and other undesirable things when very hungry, in such a poor country in so many areas. What if they had known all along that they could just butter up and fry themselves some women to satisfy their hunger!

And you don't always have to murder her, you know. Through the worst of times, perhaps just cut off an arm, or just a leg, and portion it out properly to last. And then in this manner, the wonderful wife of yours can at least continue to live, even with a disability. Now THAT is taking care of your husband!

Ok, now reality, WHAT IN THE F%$% is WRONG with these people? "Muslim Scholar"? And whether some think he is out of his mind - how many muslims around the world listen to the words of such an authority, and even if not necessary to them, these folks tend to build these things up in their heads over time. You can drive now, but also give up portions of your body as well!

But this is also the same guy that issued another fatwa, and that one declaring that girls by the age of 10 are ready to be married and "perform all marital duties".

Sick folks out there. And when I see the longest and most involved studies, showing that anywhere from a MINIMUM of 15% of muslims go radical, but most likely between 25-40% of them. This doesn't mean that they are all bomb wearing terrorists. But maybe more than you think would be willing to eat their relatives!

Having just read both your post and Jim's post I wonder why the muzzies finally came around to cannibalism.
Are you guys sure its eat, as in cook and consume for nourishment(?) -- or is eat as in the oral sex way?

Well, one thing's for sure. The 'cult', or 'religion', or 'culture' .. or however you'd precisely quantify what's involved, and what the driving force is (.. though it's pretty obvious !!! ..) has a total, complete and utter contempt for human life.

Let's quantify this as having its origins in 'religious' imperative. So ... what does this say, for that religion's fitness to influence mankind ??

I'd say it was compelling evidence to conclude that, if humanity is to thrive AS a decent, worthwhile species on this planet, the religion concerned is only fit for .. extermination.

Humanity can remain grounded in the basest manifestations of savagery imaginable. Or, it can discard anything that continues to drag large chunks of humanity down to such levels.

Let's remember the fundamental difference between the sunni and shia. The Sunni believe the religious head man is an adviser to the King; whereas, the shia believe the Ayatollah (religious leader) is the final word. Now one has to wonder if there isn't a rift between the monarchy and the Saudi royals. The Saudis have appeared to be moderating over the past years and loosening up on equal rights. This crap from bin Abdullah appears to defy that trend.
