"Unchained Melody" is so named because it first appeared in a movie titled "Unchained" in the 1930s. It was written by a guy to a girl he had never met. They met years later because of the popularity of the song. It has appeared in a half-dozen movies since "Unchained".

The version by Bobby Baer of the Righteous Brothers was released as a solo artist cover of the song, not a Righteous Brothers cover. Naturally as such a hit, the Righteous Brothers performed it on tour.

You could also add the word--dark-- to that description but you are correct. Those are truly and deeply awesome lyrics. Oft takes a keen mind and deeper insight to both note and appreciate the dark in lyrics/poetry. Those lyrics are truly amazing, IMHO..-Tyr

Yeah dark’s the right word - a lot of Florence’s earlier songs carry the same dark tones, most famously ‘Kiss with a fist’ and ‘Drumming’. Thankfully she’s in a better headspace now and her songs are a lot more positive but with the same lyrical wit, and outstanding live performances.

Another of hers that walks an odd line between dark, sexual, and who knows what is ‘Girl with one eye’-

That is brilliant lyrical verses. She wrote a lyrical poem , tuned it and set it to music....
She is without doubt a poet/songwriter/singer--and it seems to me at she is a very very talented one at that....
I am going to check out more of her song lyrics as they are actually top class poetry.
That she also veers into the dark side, shows an exploring intellect, searching soul and true poet's heart, IMHO..-Tyr
