Default HS Band Who Depicted Shooting Cops During their Performance Faces a Massive Penalty

    SMH. Issues, some have them.

High School Band Who Depicted Shooting Cops During Half-Time Performance Faces a Massive Penalty

Last week the Forest Hills High School band's half-time performance depicted police officers being shot. The school faced fierce backlash because two local police officers had just been killed in the line of duty.

Now, the band is being penalized by the the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) and could face up to a year-long performance ban, the Clarion Ledger reported. The school district will be allowed to appeal the decision, MHSAA president Todd Kelly said.

According to Jackson School District Superintendent Errick Greene, they plan to appeal the decision.

"We don't believe for a moment that any focus of wrongdoing or poor judgment should be placed on the students," Green told WDBJ-TV.

He also said the district has conducted their investigation and will take appropriate action against the band director, although details have not been released due to personnel confidentiality.

"We do not believe there was any malice intended against the Brookhaven community," Greene said. "Unfortunately we do believe there has been a serious lapse in judgment."

Ward 6 Councilman Aaron Banks, whose territory includes the high school, is defending the band.

"Let's be clear, the band students of Forest Hill should not be punished due to a bad decision made by a teacher," he wrote in a Facebook post.

A group of parents and community leaders held a press conference on Friday, saying the decision penalizes the kids, which they feel is unfair.

I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat…You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to wage war by land, sea, and air. War with all our might and with all the strength God has given us, and to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs - Victory in spite of all terrors - Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival.

Explain, please someone, why this HS band should not in its entirety be punished when entire college sports programs have been destroyed by the indiscretions of scouts, coaches, and/or administrations? Is there a difference?

I recall SMU's program being killed and Auburn's being screwed over with no bowl games when they were the best team in the nation both seasons. Now suddenly we want to defend the poor students who depicted the killing of police officers? Like they didn't KNOW it was wrong?

    Yes. Penn State, for example.

How about it being "Let this be a lesson".

Mostly to the facility and the parents. Then to
the kids that "This Is Not Acceptable".

Bullshit on the complaints! Adults are at fault.
Indoctrinating kids to be unlawful and hating punks.

Thanks Obama, Holder, Hillary, et al.
I have lost my mind. If found, please give it a snack and return it?

I think you have to go case by case. My first response was more along the lines of how the decision of this crap will affect EVERYTHING going forward. With a jaundiced eye toward the left being able to pervert and ruin any and everything,

In this case, I think the fact that EVERYONE with a brain knows murder is wrong and depicting it is wrong, the entire program should suffer the consequences of their actions. I was certainly smart enough in HS to know when I was going to walk rather than participate in something I knew to be wrong (or willing to take the risk of suffering the consequences).

In the case of athletes I see it differently having been one. I played 2nd base from 67-75. I went to practice, did what the coach said at practice, played my position in the games and went home. I knew most of the other players casually. If the administration had been up to something or the coaches doing crap behind the scenes, and they got caught, why should I suffer for it? I was just playing baseball.

I bring that up because there was a case where a team or teams in FL, I believe, back in the 80s got busted using ringers that were above the age limit, importing them from the Caribbean or Latin America. You think the coach is going to announce THAT to the team? Same with these college football players. They play for a program, they don't run it.
