    Default Traveling in military

    Good day, everyone.
    I have a question.
Here in Russia if you are in a military, or police, you are not allowed to go to a lot of countries for a vacation, for example.
Is there the same issue in the US? Can I be a US marine and go to Russia for a vacation?
    Thanks for your time :3

    ____________
    P.S.
    How are you, guys?

    Welcome back.

In answer to your question, there are restrictions for military traveling abroad
    on vacation.

There are quite a few advisories on this page:

I have lost my mind. If found, please give it a snack and return it?

When we'd PCS to a different base, we'd have an incoming briefing and there would even be places in the area that were off limits to military personal.

When I got to MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL, there were a couple bars that were off limits to some military personal because we were WHITE, because they couldn't guarantee our safety, and if we got roughed up or worse in one of these places, the military wouldn't be responsible for our health care, or funeral, not to mention we'd face a written reprimand or worse, an article 15 and busted in rank, and/or dishonorable discharge. Needless to say, I never went looking for that trouble. I stayed the hell away.

There are restrictions, especially for military personnel with higher level security clearances. Some countries are definitely "off limits" to those personnel for recreational travel.

    Default From personal experience only...

Yes, we were permitted to vacation in foreign countries that weren't known, threats to Americans. But....we were told...Not to appear in public...IN UNIFORM.

This became even more important...here at home, during the Vietnam war. Americans in uniform had to fear being threatened by OUR FELLOW AMERICANS who hated NIXON, JOHNSON, the War, and everybody who they called "BABY KILLERS!"

Today. There are even more threats....Terror related. So military, and even family members oversea's have to be cautious, and be aware of their surroundings...24/7.

What a sad world we live in, when even in your own nation. Fellow citizens want to destroy you??

My wife has been to Russia a couple of times (St, Petersburg) as a tourist... she loved it. Unfortunately, I could not accompany her but she said it was a beautiful city.

    Yes, it is.
Sometimes I think that St.Petersberg is the main reason, why I'm still in Russia
Really don't wanna leave this city.

Thanks. It's nice, when people remember you
It was a hard summer and autumn for me, I had no time. Now it's okay and I'll probably visit here more often.

<snipped for brevity> So very true.

Bolded part: One our our female Coasties stopped for coffee in the liberal enclave
of Arcata CA while on her way to give radio communication instruction at Station Humboldt Bay.
She told me some unwashed, filthy liberal approached her and called her a Baby Killer - because
she was in uniform. I told her never to go into that place again unless I was with her. Let them
    fuck with me...

Do you have any gulags left over? How long would it take to make them operational? I can think of several movie stars, reporters, and democrats who need some "re-education".

I think that some of them was remaid as prisons. But I think they do not Gulags, let them just survive in the Forests of Siberia. We can give them some territories and then we can see, how they will build their "ideal state"/s
I think we can make an amazing live-show of this
