Default USCG Searching for 2 Missing People

...46 NM from Jupiter Inlet FL.

    https://content.govdelivery.com/acco...letins/2259901

11 people on an 18 foot boat. Definitely overloaded. A manufactured boat will
have a capacity plate on the stern or transom.

There used to be a formula to determine vessel capacity, but I do not remember it.
It used to be length X width with a multiplier, but I cannot recall that figure.

    Needless and ignorant accident.
I have lost my mind. If found, please give it a snack and return it?

You know, the last time I was in Germany and saw a man standing above everybody else, we ended up disagreeing.

    AIS is not always updated.

Only sites without open access are. AIS will show a homeport, not a deployment.

Plus, movements of military vessels (USCG, Navy, Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA, NATO) will
not show. Even some commercial vessels will not, such as LNG bulk carriers.

There are classified sites that will show them but they are not public accessed. You need a TS
clearance and authorization to get into them, and NOT on a home computer that has not been cleared.

I suspected a migrant smuggling scheme. Boat was definitely overloaded in my
estimation, with added weight of extra fuel cans and personal belongings.

    Needless loss of life:

    Looking for this?

    Calculating Your Boat’s Capacity

On boats less than 20 feet in length with no capacity plate, use the following rule of thumb to calculate the number of persons (weighing 150 lbs. each, on average) the vessel can carry safely in good weather conditions.
Number of people = vessel length (ft.) x vessel width (ft.) ÷ 15
For example, for a vessel 18 feet long by 6 feet wide, the number of persons is 18 times 6 (or 108) divided by 15, which equals seven 150-lb. persons (or a total person weight of 7 x 150, or 1050 lbs.).
Every day I beat my previous record of consecutive days I've stayed alive.

    Thanks Bilge...

I simply could not recall the 'divisor' (15)!

It has been a while since I did those kinds of boarding.

11 people, fuel and gear meant hazardous overloading in my estimation.

I "started" life in the Guard as a BT. But it soon became obvious that I was to be cross trained into the L.E. field.

It's amazing how stuff that was "hammered" into this old thick skull stuck around

I told my Squid brother I have forgotten more than most people know
these days about SAR,LE, and ATON.

Oh, John was a BTC until they made a rating change, so he became an MK.
