She's upset that Trump canceled her planned usage of military aircraft to go overseas during the shutdown. She turns around and then claims that they are no longer going since Trump announced it and it's now a security issue. But - even though the folks were all seen in an Air Force bus waiting to leave, and they were off to Andrews Air Force base - she's trying to claim that they were flying commercial airlines to go. BULLSHIT. It was military aircraft, and you were going to spend that $$$ flying, while still getting paid as it is.... But it's the lie about the commercial airlines. Trying to make Trump look bad and take the blame for her wasteful spending while others are suffering.

Fact Check: Nancy Pelosi Claims Democrats Planned to Fly Commercial (from an Air Force Base)

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Friday canceled a trip to Afghanistan, claiming that she planned on flying commercial to the war zone but opted against it after President Donald Trump revealed she was making the journey.

“After President Trump revoked the use of military aircraft to travel to Afghanistan, the delegation was prepared to fly commercially to proceed with this vital trip to meet with our commanders and troops on the front lines,” Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, said in a statement.

In the middle of the night, the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service provided an updated threat assessment detailing that the President announcing this sensitive travel had significantly increased the danger to the delegation and to the troops, security, and other officials supporting the trip. This morning, we learned that the Administration had leaked the commercial travel plans as well.

In a Thursday letter to Pelosi, President Trump notified the speaker that he was revoking access to the plane for her trip to Egypt, Brussels, and Afghanistan, writing: “In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I’m sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate.”

“I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the strong border security movement to end the shutdown,” he continued. President Trump said Pelosi was welcome to fly on a commercial plane to make the visit. “Obviously, if you would like to make your journey by flying commercial, that would certainly be your prerogative,” he wrote.

Hammill’s statement on Democrats’ purported plan to fly commercial is not backed by any evidence, particularly considering that photos and videos from Thursday show House Democrats slated to accompany her were stuck on a U.S. Airforce bus traveling to Andrews Air Force Base after the military jet was revoked. This fact all but confirms the congressional delegation (CODEL) had no plans to fly commercial.

And yet ANOTHER reason as to why congress shouldn't be flying anywhere during a shutdown, unless an absolute emergency, IMO. Public relations doesn't fit that category.

These flights are used and abused, and likely by a lot more than Pelosi. But I've read much about HER and more than the following article. I'm just admitting that I "believe" others likely do or have before. But there must be something to it if she specifically has been brought up with this issue many a time. Well, this time she's not charging us.

Where was the media when Pelosi abused military travel for YEARS?

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch uncovered Pelosi’s abuse of military travel on taxpayer dime which included bringing members of her family aboard and serving them top shelf liquor.

“Purchases for one Pelosi-led CODEL on May 15-20, 2008 included: Johnny Walker Red scotch, Grey Goose vodka, E&J brandy, Bailey’s Irish Crème, Maker’s Mark whiskey, Courvoisier cognac, Bacardi Light rum, Jim Beam whiskey, Beefeater gin, Dewar’s scotch, Bombay Sapphire gin,” Tom Fitton said.

“Speaker Pelosi used the Air Force aircraft for a total of 85 trips, covering 206,264 miles, from March 2, 2009 through June 7, 2010. Pelosi, her guests and Air Force personnel logged a total of 428.6 hours on these flights,” Mr. Fitton added.

Judicial Watch documented all of the “hidden costs” associated with Pelosi’s constant cancellations, last minute changes and outrageous demands going back to 2009:

---In response to a series of requests for military aircraft, one Defense Department official wrote, “Any chance of politely querying [Pelosi’s team] if they really intend to do all of these or are they just picking every weekend?…[T]here’s no need to block every weekend ‘just in case’…” The email also notes that Pelosi’s office had, “a history of canceling many of their past requests.”
