Default El Chapo found guilty on all counts at trial

Less drugs on the streets, and one big 'ol kingpin behind bars for life.

    ---

El Chapo found guilty on all counts at trial

    Hasta la vista, Shorty.

Notorious Mexican cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was convicted Tuesday of running a massive, violent drug trafficking empire that for decades pumped billions of dollars worth of narcotics into the U.S.

The diminutive drug lord looked stunned as the Brooklyn federal jury handed down the verdict on its sixth day of deliberations — convicting him on all counts, including operating a continuing criminal enterprise, use of firearms and charges of conspiracy to import and distribute cocaine, heroin and marijuana.

Guzman, 61, then cast around to catch the eye of his beauty queen wife — who flashed him a supportive thumbs up as her eyes welled with tears.

“Today I’m not going to cry. Why? No one has died here,” 29-year-old Emma Coronel Aispuro — a fixture in the courtroom throughout her hubby’s trial — told a reporter in Spanish after being offered a tissue.

The jurors reached their decision after almost 35 hours of deliberations, and Judge Brian Cogan told the panelists their diligence made him “very proud to be an American.”

Guzman, who twice escaped prison in Mexico, now faces life in a maximum security federal prison.

“It is a sentence from which there is no escape and no return,” U.S. Attorney Richard Donohue said outside the courthouse — as heavily armed, camouflage-clad US marshals surrounded the building.

“This conviction is a victory for the American people, who have suffered so long and so much while Guzman made billions pouring poison over our southern border,” Donohue said. “There are those who say the war on drugs is not worth fighting. Those people are wrong.”

Defense attorney Jeffery Lichtman said his team “fought like complete savages” for their client, but acknowledged the evidence against Guzman “was overwhelming.”

GUILTY verdict reached at El Chapo's epic drug trafficking trial in Brooklyn

    They got Shorty.

Prosecutors seized a sweeping victory over Mexican drug lord Joaquín (El Chapo) Guzmán Loera Tuesday when a jury of eight women and four men convicted the crime boss on all counts at his trial in Brooklyn Federal Court.

After spending a marathon six days deliberating, the anonymous jurors unanimously decided Chapo was a “principal” boss of the powerful and ruthless Sinaloa Cartel, triggering a mandatory life sentence.

Shortly before the decision was read, the kingpin’s wife Emma Coronel Aispuro declined a tissue offered by a bystander in the audience.

“I’m not going to need them because I’m not going to cry,” she replied in Spanish.

As the crushing verdict was delivered, Chapo craned his neck to search for his wife in the gallery. He nodded and gave her a reassuring thumbs up. She responded the same way.

Before leaving the courtroom, Coronel looked at Chapo one last time and crossed her arms in front of her chest in a gesture resembling a hug.

Offered condolences after the defeat, she replied, “Why? Nobody has died.”

We should send him a bill for all the automatic weapons Eric Holder shipped to him under the Fast and Furious plan.

El Chapo’s conviction shields Obama as Fast and Furious fades away

. Former Attorney General Eric Holder. (Composite image via swordattheready.wordpress.com)
A government unanswerable to its people

As we know, Obama weaponized the coercive agencies (IRS, Justice Department) of the federal government during his time in the White House. The FBI became a private political spy agency under the Democratic Party. Proof evidenced by its counterintelligence operation against the 2016 GOP presidential campaign.
To America’s degradation, it appears nothing will be done to correct this toxic, extra-constitutional overreach. And America’s federal judiciary seems intent on keeping it that way. The judiciary has consistently refused requests by Sinaloa Cartel leaders to introduce evidence of their arrangements with US officials regarding Operation Fast and Furious.
This shows the judiciary’s determination to provide US federal agencies plausible deniability in the deaths of hundreds of innocent people.
    Gone and forgotten

And it’s highly unlikely supermax prison authorities will provide true-crime writers access to the drug lord for interviews. Such conversations would likely reveal details of Obama’s special relationship with El Chapo.
A relationship that, outside the safe confines of a Brooklyn courtroom, resulted in so many tears.
