Default New Zealand Eyes Stricter Gun Laws After Mosque Killings

Knee jerk reaction, and areas, at least in the USA, with the strictest of enforcement, do nothing, and mostly make things worse. The muslims that inevitably want revenge, will love this idea. Same with pretty much all the criminals, with their eyes widening as they read news like this. And they don't sound much like rights of their citizens and their input, just that things WILL change.

New Zealand Eyes Stricter Gun Laws After Mosque Killings

(CNSNews.com) – New Zealand’s gun ownership laws have been more relaxed than those in many Western countries but that looks set to change after Friday’s deadly shooting in two mosques in Christchurch, which killed 50 people.

“Our gun laws will change,” New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told reporters in Wellington on Saturday, noting that the suspected “primary perpetrator,” had used “two semi-automatic weapons and two shotguns” in the shooting, and had also been in possession of a “lever-action firearm.” Some appeared to have been modified.

Brenton Tarrant, a 28-year-old Australian living in Dunedin in the south of New Zealand, appeared in court Saturday charged with murder. He did not enter a plea and remains in custody pending a next appearance in early April. Two other suspects are also in custody as investigations continue.

Friday's attack was the worst mass murder in the history of New Zealand, which has consistently been near the top of lists of the world’s safest countries.

Ardern said Tarrant had obtained a firearm license in November 2017 and began buying firearms legally a month later.

“While work is being done as to the chain of events that led to both the holding of this gun license and the possession of these weapons,” she said, “I can tell you one thing right now: Our gun laws will change.”

Wow, gives you an idea on how some things are handled in NZ. Apparently freedom of speech/press is frowned upon, even if revolting footage.

Share a video... definitely get arrested, and maybe 14 years behind bars? And no bail even!! And his messages? Lame. Charges? Maybe, but a longshot. Perhaps a fine. But jail?

New Zealand Jails Teen for Sharing Mosque Shooting Video Online — Faces 14 Years in Prison

    Here we go…

A teenager faces 14 years in prison for re-posting the New Zealand mosque shooting.

An 18-year-old teenager appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Monday and was charged with re-posting of the livestream video of Friday’s mosque shootings.

The judge denied bail. The teen’s next court date is in April.

    Australia’s Nine News reported:

An 18-year-old New Zealander accused of sharing a live-stream of a mass shooting across two mosques that left 50 dead has been denied bail.

Police have said the man – who cannot yet be named – was not involved in the attack in Christchurch allegedly carried out by Australian white supremacist Brenton Tarrant, 28, on Friday.

Appearing in the Christchurch District Court on Monday, the accused was granted interim name suppression but was declined bail by Judge Stephen O’Driscoll.

The details behind the bail decision cannot be published.

He will appear in court again in April.

The teen faces two charges: one of sharing the live-stream and a second for posting a photograph of one of the mosque’s attacked with the message “target acquired” along with other chat messages “inciting extreme violence”.

If found guilty, could face up to 14 years’ jail.
