    Default Question for ADMIN...

Since we have such a small group here, wouldn't it be OK to lift or relax the "must spread rep around" rule?

And think about it... isn't that kinda socialistic? You can't give rep to the same person twice in a row even though they deserve it, you have to "spread it around?" What if forcing someone to spread it around causes you to give out rep to someone just for the sole purpose of spreading it out so you can rep someone who deserves it again?

I understand the principle. Way back when on the other board people abused the rep system by daily repping people in their little rep clubs in order to build it up so that they could NEG rep someone. But with as few people as we have here, and no one really here that's an unhinged leftist to neg, since Pete has disappeared, do we really need the spread it around rule?

    Just asking...

you get the original reason for it, right? Folks would go nuts repping each other so they have enough rep power to negative-rep (back when we could do that) others into shame? I think I've not seen much rep anyway since the thanks-for-this-post feature started
“… the greatest detractor from high performance is fear: fear that you are not prepared, fear that you are in over your head, fear that you are not worthy, and ultimately, fear of failure. If you can eliminate that fear—not through arrogance or just wishing difficulties away, but through hard work and preparation—you will put yourself in an incredibly powerful position to take on the challenges you face" - Pete Carroll.

Agreed. It was a major headache for me with the "usual suspects" being the abusers. Any one of them (or more) could conceivably join tomorrow.

To be fair, my observation was that while the lefties were definitely working on monopolizing abusing the rep system, they were far from alone in the boat. Just another rule that shouldn't need to exist yet does because of those who want to abuse the system.

Pretty much for the same reason every stupid law we have in RL exists.

Well, with only a handful of people posting each day, is a big spread around limit really called for?

I could see it being like 3 or something, but not 10 or 12. Fewer than that many people post on the board in a week.

    That's the point.

Or just delete the rep and stick with the thanks and likes.

I just went through all of the settings, and the spread rule was already at 3 members before hitting the same person again. I thought it was higher myself, but it wasn't.

I lowered that amount down to 2.
