`In 1916 a group of Yale undergraduates form a privately funded.... air militia and become some of the first U.S. pilots in the First World War.

We hear the pilots tell their own story through readings of their letters and journals. Interviews with historians and descendants of the aviators reveal the historical context and the impact of their contributions even today.`

That's a club they can keep for someone braver than me. The first carrier-borne flight in the USN was made from the deck of a light cruiser, the USS Birmingham, in a biplane. When you watch those old biplanes take off from ships back then they just sort of fall off the boat and take flight before they hit the water

I just noticed Bruce Dern is the narrator. Didn't know he was still alive. Story goes before he shoots up John Wayne in "The Cowboys", the Duke tell Dern "They're going to hate you for this." The Duke was right. I STILL hate Bruce Dern from the movie

I think he played a bad guy in every western on TV and the movies that came out in the 60s.
