I was a crewmember of the USS RECOVERY ARS-43. We had divers onboard, and the navy had a BIG Hyperberic Chamber they used after dives. They invited me inside...but not under pressure. Their stay time was up to 6 hours, depending on the depth of the water, and how long they were down.

Those guys, including our Skipper, the XO, and Ops officer were all Divers. As a RADIOMAN...I learned really quickly...Water, and electricity are not compatible if you know what's good for ya!!!

USS RECOVERY was a Salvage ship. Little over 200 ft long, and it rode like a CORK when we crossed the Atlantic, and into the Med on deployment.

The closest duty I ever had to McHales Navy. Talk about laid-back. But a really fun tour.
