    Default Saving My Old Kitchen...

Guess I'll pop back on the board with this post. My house was built in 1948. It's just a little house but cozy. Much of it has been remodeled but the kitchen is sad. It has old white cupboards that I found just disgusting. So, I have tore into them. I have a massive Harley Davidson sticker on one wall since I retired from HD, and I'm going to make the rest of the kitchen Harley theme.

Cupboard doors being stripped of many old layers of paint...

Got lucky, the biggest of the doors only took one coat of stripping...

Bought the MONSTER Makita 4x24" bent sander... OMG... what a beast... made QUICK work of sanding then after stripping...

I finished up with my little Milwaukee palm sander... another great little machine...

    Stained them with Minwax Gunstock...

Looked high and low for new hinges, and found nothing but chinese junk, so I decided that I'd wire brush on the bench grinder all the old hinges... MADE IN AMERICA...

Major departure from what it used to look like... but I like it...

    Good to see you!

The white tiles are very nice! I’d keep them for sure.

Harley themed kitchen? For sure you are a bachelor!

Yeah this is the other side of the kitchen... so, I'm going to make the entire kitchen Harley Davidson theme... I did retire from Harley Davidson as a Master Tech so...

That side of kitchen there with the big Harley emblem is going to get new cabinets too. I'm going to build them, custom.

Don't know what other's tastes are but, compared to the old white crap, I think the black with the very awesome wood grain looks fantastic. I have some nice oil rubbed bronze door pulls coming from Amazon.com, but wouldn't ya know, I have to pick something that takes forever to be delivered... going to sand my nice hardwood floor with that monster Makita later too. I have to tear out some other old crap cabinets on the other side of the room, and I'm going to build cabinets for there and when I do, I'll sand the entire floor and refinish it... it'll be pretty... old wood looks really nice sanded and refinished.

I installed a 6 stage iSpring reverse osmosis water filter under the sink too. Been drinking lots of water when I work out now, ice water, because I hooked the ice maker in the fridge up to it too.
