Default Add this to the burning flag debate

Un-F#**ing-believable. You have rights to burn the US flag but it's hate crime if you do so to a queer flag? Petty charges for theft should be all. But the left and gay mafia will see this as a crime but but the opposite for our US flag.

Man Charged with Hate Crime for Burning Pride Flag in Iowa – While Protester Awarded $225,000 for Burning US Flag in Cleveland

30-year-old Adolfo Martinez stole a gay flag from a church in Ames, Iowa and set it on fire in front of a gay bar a few blocks away while shouting threats. Martinez was originally charged with disorderly conduct and reckless use of fire.

But Story County attorney Jessica Reynolds announced after reviewing the evidence she was charing Martinez with a hate crime.

Meanwhile in Cleveland, the city is paying $225,000 to a well-known protester who was arrested for burning a US flag at the 2016 Republican National Convention.

I think that guy is a thief and a moron and I don't care what he was charged with. Leave other people's property alone. Totally different situation than if he had bought his own gay pride flag and burned it.

Though I can't recall of a single instance of someone being charged with "reckless use of a fire" when they have burned an American flag and suspect this guy may have been charged with that even if it had been his own flag.

I hate the whole "hate crime" concept as a a whole, all crimes are hate crimes.

I stated he should be responsible for the petty offenses - but not a hate crime. That's where the left pushes, or the gays. Things they don't like are hate crimes.

Most 'bans' are and always have been one group wanting to impose their version of right and wrong onto others. That includes 'hate speech' which is a 'ban' in and of itself.

That's mostly why I hate the hate crimes Jim. I recognize that some crimes are motivated from an extra level of hate, I mean that's just obvious, but as expected the problem with that is you have PEOPLE deciding which crimes are hate crimes and which ones are not, and it always seems like that label is thrown on crimes committed by people who are perceived to be on the right than any other group. That's some BS.
