    Default Bought a New Camera...

Yeah I popped on a new Sony FDR AX53 video camera. I've had several other video cameras and had a lot fun with them. I like the video because I think it's so much more fun than a still frame camera. You get to see action, hear people speak, see what they're doing, etc.

So I did a lot of research and found that the Sony FDR AX53 is a fantastic video camera. It has BOSS, Balanced Optical Steady Shot, and it is an industry leader in image stabilization. It has a ZEISS lens that is basically on a gimbal and MOVES. It's the most incredible thing. It also takes video in Sony's new XAVC format, which even in standard HD, the file size is twice the size of ordinary AVCHD, 1080p. It also takes 4K video though which is why I bought it. I don't want to outgrow this camera in a year or two.

So the plan is... MAKE A LITTLE MOVIE. I need a theme and that's still being contemplated, but I'm thinking keep it simple for starters. Maybe some little documentary type thing like, "A Day In The Life In Wisconsin," yeah, simple. But it sounds like a lot fun and I'm diving in. There's definitely a steep learning curve though because the menus in this camera are extensive, and then there's the issue of uploading and editing. Got me some work to do but wow, I think this is ultra fun. I have a fantastic Velbon video tripod that has a fluid head so it moves like velvet, which I'll get a lot of use from, and I've bought a few accessories like an extra battery, an external charger, and the SD cards for it have to be large and fast. I might need a better computer though too. My shop computer here with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card can't play the new Sony XAVC S high def video without glitching. The processor in this old computer just isn't up to it. My new Dell with the gen8 processor and 16GB of RAM will, but I don't want to use a laptop for video editing. I want a desktop and a mouse. Haven't tried the newer house HP yet but I hope that can handle it. If not, I might stick in some more RAM but, if that has a problem, then it's time to get a new desktop with either 32 or 64GB of RAM. My son is also giving me a 6TB server he got from work. It's a tad older but a server none the less, and I think I'm going to need a lot of storage when it comes to downloading and storing video.
