Default NFL QB Andrew Luck, 29, suddenly retires!

I say adios! Anyone not giving 100% should bail, you'll get hurt if you don't give it your all. And even then as you see, Luck still got hurt. Now for that reason I guess he has chosen to retire in his prime.

And the AFC just got a little easier for the Steelers!

Oft-injured Colts QB Andrew Luck, 29, announces retirement

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Andrew Luck watched one last game from the sideline Saturday.

Then he said goodbye to the NFL.

The Indianapolis Colts quarterback heard boos as he walked away from the field, then walked to the podium and made the surprise decision official: The oft-injured star is retiring at age 29.

"I'm in pain, I'm still in pain. It's been four years of this pain, rehab cycle," Luck said. "It's a myriad of issues — calf strain, posterior ankle impingement, high ankle sprain. Part of my journey going forward will be figuring out how to feel better."

Luck wasn't planning to make the announcement following Saturday's 27-17 loss to the Chicago Bears. But when ESPN first reported the news during the fourth quarter, Luck changed the plan for a Sunday afternoon announcement.

Instead, he held a 25-minute impromptu news conference.

I don't know much about football, other than 'da Bears' when winning. LOL!

I did see this guy's announcement and it sounds like he wants to get out to fully heal and have a life.

I look at Jim McMahon and some others and can get it. I do think some are just not built for the kinds of hits they take.

I like someone retiring as opposed to sitting out and taking the money.

I have aches and pains from my high school and college days in football.
    He made a wise decision.
I have lost my mind. If found, please give it a snack and return it?

Luck messed up my fantasy league one season. Unforgivable.

What an asshole. I'd bet anything he was 90% sure he was going to retire before last season's draft . He should have let the Colts trade him to the Steelers for a few draft picks and THEN retired LOL

The hardships of 11 former NFL players show why Andrew Luck's early retirement shouldn't come as a surprise
    Alexandra Licata Aug. 26, 2019, 5:25 PM

    ...

Former quarterback Jim McMahon was diagnosed with early-onset dementia in 2009 after retiring from football. He also struggles with depression, memory loss, and severe headaches.
Throughout his 14-year professional career, he said he had three to five diagnosed concussions with no way of knowing how many he incurred. A broken neck also went undiagnosed by a team doctor, according to McMahon. It resulted in excruciating pain caused by spinal fluid in the brain. Every few months his neck needs to be realigned to drain the fluid.
McMahon also became addicted to prescription narcotic painkillers that he took throughout his career for his neck, shoulders, and arms. He said he would take 100 Percocet pills a month to help the pain before using medical marijuana.
McMahon was one of seven former NFL players who s ued the NFL in 2011 for negligence, which resulted in a $765 million settlement.

Maybe his Offensive Linemen should pay his medical bills.
