Glad I don't still live in Florida. I couldn't take the humidity now like I could when I was younger. It bothered me back then, it would be unbearable now.

I don't miss the daily rain and all that lightening either, not to mention hurricanes. Was in hurricane Elena down in Tampa, that was enough.

On it's current track it looks like our house (north of Lake Okeechobee) is gonna see some puka.

But we are still in Maine. Lucky the Lady & I buttoned down Casa Proulx pretty good before we left. All we can do now is hope for the best.
Every day I beat my previous record of consecutive days I've stayed alive.

My parent's FL home got hit really bad 1X in 10 years, but a doozy. Vero Beach area, which right now looks to be in the path too. While I miss them, I am so glad I don't have to worry about hurricanes. I think it's less scary for the folks down there, then the folks that love them and are not in the zone.

    Default Highest Point of land...

In Florida is only around 345 feet:

Britton Hill, in the Florida Panhandle, is the highest point in Florida, at 345 feet above sea level. It's the lowest high point of all the state high points.

Looks like only one model has it coming in over Charleston...

The path coming in over Savannah doesn't bode well for SC...

The we've got King Tides currently, so the storm surges will just make it worse. Glad I don't live in downtown Charleston. The streets there flood if a homeless guy pisses in an alley. You'd think that after 349 years they would have figured how to prevent tidal flooding in the streets...

Here's to hoping this bastard stays offshore...

I heard about the 'King Tides' last night. I hope this thing stays east, like 10 more miles than projected now. Stay safe!

Those projections are intended to warn people, not scare them.
The tracks could veer in any direction.

Best to be safe than sorry.

Yup, good news that it potentially has changed course away from Florida and heading north as it reaches the area and wants the Carolina's now. The bad news is that it's now a category 5. It's reaching the Bahamas now, will maybe slow down again, but it potentially may pickup right back up again when it's over the coast heading towards the east coast.

    Be safe, HJ!!

Hurricane Dorian Upgrades To ‘Catastrophic’ Category 5 Storm

Hurricane Dorian upgraded to a “catastrophic” Category 5, according to reports from the National Hurricane Center.

The National Hurricane Center tweeted Sunday that Dorian progressed from a Category 4 to a Category 5, calling the hurricane “catastrophic.” The center also stated the hurricane has winds of 160 mph.

“NEW,” the center tweeted. “Dorian is now a category 5 hurricane with 160 mph sustained winds. The eyewall of this catastrophic hurricane is about to hit the Abaco Islands with devastating winds.”

    Are you surprised?

They did that with Katrina and GWB when he announced that residents of New Orleans should evacuate.
That he said 72 hours prior to landfall. Some idiots refuse to check history.

Federal government cannot force evacuations. Only can by declaring Martial Law can it be done.

And we know it's coming. It's like we know the sun will rise tomorrow. The democrats will be trashing the president. Doesn't matter what happens, doesn't matter his response, they have ALREADY been writing the TRASH they'll talk about him.

And even... "THE HURRICANE IS HIS FAULT." Wait for that one...
