I need some of your optimism now.
Do you think President Trump will be impeached?
Do you think he will be re-elected?
The economy is going great, the border has calmed down, we have a record number of (conservative) judges appointed. But the “gimme a handout” crowd doesn’t care about any of that.

Giving what has been happening in light of the past few weeks, baring the President acting out in hearings or somehow else, I think he's near unbeatable. Certainly Hillary won't be able to.

The Dems have a bunch of weirdos that want to take 115% of everyone making over $40k. Good luck with that.

It's always about the economy, each person's economy.

You have more faith in the American idiot than I do.

Americans are just stupid. For example , at one point earlier this year I read a survey that said that 80% of Americans believed that most Americans were paying MORE in taxes after the Trump tax cuts than they were in previous years, even though IRS return analysis proved that 50% of all tax payers absolutely positively paid less in taxes the first year the tax cuts had taken affect than they had in previous years when using a simply analysis to account for higher incomes.

Meaning that of those 80% who said Americans were paying higher taxes at least 50% of them , and probably more, were themselves paying less in taxes.

Now , how stupid do you have to be to say you are paying more in taxes when you actually paid less?

Plus, when considering whether Trump is likely to be reelected or not, you MUST factor in the cheating that the Democrats will for sure be doing.

I wouldn't ever say that I have faith in the American people when it comes to politics. Look at their choices in the past few elections.

On the other hand though, I believe a legitimate question is "what choice?" I mean when your choice was Hillary, Trump, or some third party candidate that had ZERO chance of winning. Is that REALLY a choice?

Would be like me showing up at your door and saying "okay I'm either gonna stab you or shoot you, one of these things is going to happen. You choose, now I suppose you could choose something else, but regardless one of those two things is gonna happen" and then shooting you and claiming that you chose to have me shoot you. Well I mean true I guess, but is that a choice?

We need fundamental change in this country. But I don't think it's ever gonna happen. The changes we need start first and foremost with an educated voter base, but our schools turn out idiots, on purpose. Neither party is ever gonna make any serious effort to improve our schools. They don't want our kids actually learning to think for themselves. That would defeat their entire plan to remain in power.

Look at our "leaders" in a meritocracy none of these people would be in charge of so much as a child's lemonade stand, yet here we are ruled over by the most dishonest, most corrupt , most vile human beings on the planet.

I would say that I was and am a committed conservative my adult life. I identified with the GOP, even when I disagreed with some policies. I always thought the best approach for most groups was to 'work within.' I changed when forced to, so can others.

You have to want to change, and I don't think most people want to. I've told you the story about the little family we've helped over the years, what I haven't told you is all the people we've had rent houses from us over the years who asked us for this or that and we refused because they were clearly people who did not want to change to improve their own lives. I think that's how most Americans are , they don't care enough about their own lives to change .

I agree and have said so 4 years. People won't change unless forced.

Hey now, doesn't my opinion count for anything?

I can tell you, that unless some hidden hammer drops, he's a shoe in for 2020 and a re-election. And this impeachment has only made it a better path for him. That will also go down in history, that the impeachment was not only one sided and unconstitutional and broke many many house rules and took the rights away from the opposing side, but history as to actually helping the accused get elected! That's just how bad this whole thing is. Many Dems know it, the media is starting to discuss it & as is many in the nation from pundits to regular 'ol folks like us.

Then add in the economy. That's going to be a huge reason to why he gets reelected. His immigration stances and progress in various areas will help. Not everyone thinks like the view or the socialists. And IMO, the refusal and obstruction from the left will only help. The SC appointments and tons of judges around the nation..... I won't sit and list all the positives and negatives - but there is no doubt that he has in fact accomplished many things, and many things have been obstructed. Just lots of reasons, and lots more.

Then you have his opponents. Who on that entire list is someone this nation TRULY would prefer? Biden? He's toast, and it's only going to get MUCH worse for him and his son. He has zero chance, IMO. Warren? Perhaps her endless freebie list will attract some, but she's simply not got enough to beat him. Latest entry Bloomberg - no shot. Buttigieg is rising only to go nowhere. Crazy hair socialist Bernie? He can pull a lot of votes from the far left, but nationally and his socialism won't win. Who's left, Hillary? Would she dare? And she would lose worse this go round if she did!

I'm often a pessimist. And more so simply grounded in reality. Which is why I thought Trump would lose in 2016, but I didn't realize just how far in the can the media was for the left, and I fell for the endless polls calling for the anointed one to win. But I ain't falling for any of that crap this time.

Right now, and I don't see anything changing that, I think with electoral votes again he will cruise to a large victory.

The question is - will they try this crap again after that?

There have already been several Democrat members of the House who have went on the record to say that if they impeach and Senate doesn't convict and Trump is reelected that if they keep the House they will impeach him again later.

Yup, already read, likely same as you. And that in itself is insanity, to call for such things in advance. And another that basically threatened that if they take the Senate that they would definitely then do so again.

    @NightTrain

Sorry for the delay... I'm back from the great frozen North. It's good to be home!

I think Trump is going to win in an unmitigated landslide for the reasons you outlined, plus there's going to be severe blowback from voters towards the Democrats.

This impeach foolishness is going to be a very painful lesson for Democrats and the leftward radical lurch to the left they've taken will further destroy support.

Biden and Warren don't have widespread support and the needed charisma to knock out someone like Trump - at best, all they can really hang out there to entice voters is "I'm not Trump" and that's not going to cut it.

Something I'd look at closely if I were a Democrat is the recent blowout in the UK. You can draw some very similar parallels there, and the liberals obstructing there paid the price in historic defeats. The Democrats here have locked themselves in and have no choice but to see this through.

The interesting thing here is to watch and see how many Reps are willing to throw away their political futures with a 'yes' vote. One way or another, 2020 is going to be a bloody battle.

They may get through with the House voting for impeachment, but it's DOA in the Senate. That leaves the interesting scenario of nationwide challengers armed with a very recent and extremely unpopular vote to impeach Trump, and I think it'll play out in the GOP's favor ultimately either way this goes.

Scenario 1 : The House votes but fails to win impeachment, due to quite a few nervous Dems who know this won't get anywhere in the Senate anyway. Embarrassment and a loss in seats for the hassle for the last 3 years for Democrats who pushed it.

Scenario 2 : The House votes and impeaches. Senate kills it. Embarrassment and a loss in seats for the hassle for the last 3 years for Democrats who pushed it.

All of the Democrat leaders have lost sight of the big picture and middle-of-the-road centrist and Independent votes - all they're doing now is pandering to a small radical leftist base and that's not going to win elections. I think this is due to Trump's deliberate Twitter goading of those same leaders and it's a personal thing now, causing them to charge forward with this foolishness driven by anger instead of thoughtfulness.

I really don't see a downside to this. There's no way impeachment and conviction is going to happen and it's all but certain for a Trump landslide in 2020 - barring, of course, if Trump happens to do something really, really stupid between here and November.

The parallel IS worth noting, IMO. You sure have a lot more faith in Republican Senators than I do though.

And it isn't like this is going to end. The Dems are not going to stop even if and when they are defeated. Some are on record stating they will just do it again. They're throwing sh*t against the wall hoping and praying something will stick.

I hate getting my hopes up, but a 1980-type victory for the GOP is about what the Dems have earned, IMO, and it's what the Labour Party in the UK got.

Embarrassingly for me, she's one of my Senators - but you can bank on her being gone in 2020. All of us are pissed about the Kavanaugh bullshit she pulled and she heard us loud and clear.

The other wild card is Collins, but she's more reliable than Murkowski is.

We're good to go! Let the Democrats destroy themselves, it'll go no where.

Oh, I want it to go somewhere. I want the Dem Party in its entirety completely crushed. Might be asking a bit much, but a good clothesline on the throat wouldn't bother me a bit

Where the danger lies is each and every time the Dems have destroyed themselves, they've come back kookier'n they were before. Even given the nonsense, there are STILL districts like Tlaib's out there that are going to put a sleeper in a seat until they rear their ugly head again.
