What a dumbass. I think it's stupid that they won't let them enjoy a cigar, but rules are rules, and this officer was asked to put a stop to it.

And it wasn't only this that took place after the championship game.

Odell also went to LSU, who won the game. He was on TV pulling out his cash and counting out bills and handing it to certain players. He's known for carrying such money around. Only thing is - players can't accept money or gifts from anyone.

So what happens? Basically without much review - LSU announced that the money was fake! Sure!!!

New Orleans police issue simple battery warrant for Odell Beckham Jr. after slapping officer on the butt

Odell Beckham Jr. is usually right when he says he gets too much attention for acting the way many professional athletes do.

But this week, the Cleveland Browns receiver has brought it all on himself.

On Thursday, New Orleans police issued a simple battery arrest warrant for Beckham for slapping a Superdome police officer on the butt in the locker room after LSU’s national championship win over Clemson.

Nola.com reported that the arena officer was telling LSU players in the locker room to put out their victory cigars because it was against building policy when he felt Beckham’s slap.

As the video below shows, Beckham came up behind the officer as he was talking to offensive lineman Damien Lewis and smacked him:

Beckham also quickly gets a look of fear on his face, as he almost immediately realizes he might be in trouble.

According to court records, the officer, a 48-year-old lieutenant, resisted the urge to punch Beckham in the moment, but called the New Orleans Police a little more than a day later to say he wanted to press charges.

In a sworn New Orleans Police statement filed in Criminal District Court, the stadium lieutenant said he was told to enforce the no smoking policy, and confronted some of the happy players who were lighting up after their championship victory.

The officer alleges that one player because “argumentative” at first but did comply with the request; it was after that exchange he felt someone slap him.

Odell Beckham hands out cash to LSU players, and LSU quickly claims it was fake

In post-truth America, the motto E pluribus unum has been replaced with That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

LSU’s story in the aftermath of a viral video showing Browns receiver (and former LSU standout) Odell Beckham Jr. handing out cash to LSU players after Monday night’s national championship victory over Clemson is that the money was fake.

It’s a predictable claim, because as to any players who won’t be leaving for the NFL, this is the kind of thing that could affect their eligibility for 2020. And if it’s to be believed, Beckham was rewarding kids who delivered a national title with money that he knew was phony — and they didn’t?

“That’s really funny,” they surely thought when they realized they’d gotten Schrutebucks instead of legal tender.

The money looks real in the video. But since there’s no way of proving that it was, there’s really nothing the NCAA can do. It has no jurisdiction over Beckham, so it can’t force him to answer questions about where, how, and why he got cash that looks real but isn’t.

Then there’s the reality that cracking down on the situation would serve only to further expose the hypocrisy of a system that fails to fairly compensate players who generate billions for college football. So what if a few guys got a cash-cushioned handshake? The only difference between those and the many others that happen on a regular basis for college football and basketball players is that last night they happened to be caught on camera.

And so the smart play for the NCAA would be to do nothing. The smart play for LSU would be to politely advise Beckham to be a little more discreet the next time he shows up at a game with a wad of cash, real or otherwise.
