I think this is funny actually. I know some are saying it's their "right" to stay open and what not... and if someone comes into a business, gets sick, and then pass it to "59,000" people possibly? Or even just kill one person.

Seeing just how contagious this might be, people need to listen or get a violation of some sort. I don't think hitting the essential places are an issue if people take precautions, and those places are limited. No reason to open the local lunch shop, nor the sweaty local gym... 2nd article.

Mayor Garcetti announces water and power will be shut off for nonessential L.A. businesses that don’t close

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti opened his daily briefing Tuesday recognizing what may have been the first teenage COVID-19 death in L.A. County and went on to announce actions against nonessential businesses that don't close and a new portal for recruiting medics.

He reminded young people that the virus can hit them too, urging them to stay at home and practice social distancing.

"Your behavior can save a life and take a life," Garcetti said. "And that life could be yours.”

The mayor addressed President Trump's remarks from earlier Tuesday about having the nation "opened up and just raring to go by Easter." Garcetti said he didn't think L.A. would be back to normal "in that short time."

"We won’t extend it one day longer than we need to," Garcetti said, but emphasized that the "safer at home" measure had to be followed through.

One coronavirus patient could infect up to 59,000 others because it is almost THREE TIMES more infectious than flu, expert reveals

  • Dr Hugh Montgomery from University College London said virus 'very infectious'
  • He told Channel 4 how coronavirus spreads twice as much as the common flu
  • One person could infect 59,000 others with COVID-19 compared to 14 with flu
  • Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?

An intensive care specialist has described how one person with coronavirus could infect up to 59,000 others - as the virus is more than twice as infectious as flu.

Dr Hugh Montgomery, a professor of intensive care medicine at University College London, explained how the virus could be passed from one person to thousands as he called on Britons to heed advice on social distancing.

'Normal flu, if I get that, I'm going to infect on average about 1.3 or 1.4 people - if there was such a division,' he told Dr Xand van Tulleken on Channel 4's Coronavirus: How to Isolate Yourself programme.

'If those 1.3 or 1.4 people gave it to the next lot that's the second time it gets passed on. By the time that's happened 10 times, I've been responsible for about 14 cases of flu.'
