Yup, it was @NightTrain that found some similarities!! Then I found another connection from another account. But everyone sharing is what ultimately finds them.

Tina, nt22, Retired, dcbiker & rancher. All oddly connected. Well 4 of them kinda directly connected.

This doesn't mean every new member or weird poster is a bot though. We still have millions and millions of weirdos living here too! Conspiracy wackos and all kinds.

But those accounts are history.

I've seen my share of 911 conspiracy theorists on message boards but never a true Nazi and never a true Stalinist. A few folks have liked the communist manifesto. But I am always disappointed when my hopes are dashed and these posters are bots or trolls.

Oh yeah, we had a few Nazis hit the board a few years ago... Stormfront and everything. They didn't last long, because none of us were buying that crap, but that didn't stop 4 or 5 of them from making the attempt.

They're every bit as nasty as any rabid liberal.

Here's my thing: I did exactly the same thing on another board (not USMB). Jumped in both boots right out of the gate and almost got another member banned because of who I was 100% positive this person was. Well, the person I thought it was couldn't help but pop a stupid pill and open his trap and let everyone know he was the idiot and not the person I was accusing. It appears his desire to take a shot at me overrode his 2 brain cells.

However, I was wrong. When there is no pressing reason not to, I am going to err on the side of caution. Didn't hurt to let you and Rick take a look at it first. If I thought the person(s) was harming the board in any way I would have immediately acted.

On a side note, it's kind of too bad. I wanted a go at this person(s) on merit of argument.

@High_Plains_Drifter as I said, I would be the first to tell you. Upon further review, you are/were correct enough and action was taken. I will however still stand on the fact that given the same situation again, I would want the "further review" again before taking action.

... and my approach is, challenge them ASAP ... to get the issue dealt with in the shortest time. Responses can be dealt with, fairly, on their own merits (of course). No responses -- QED -- point proven, and without having to guess at what you're dealing with.

I think when there's no introduction, no avatar, no personal information filled in on the account page, no personal comments in a post, no responses to replies, no anything that would indicate it's an actual person, but instead just a headline and a link, copy and paste garbage that can be traced to other places on the internet, foreign boards, and even their board name lacking in any sort of ingenuity or originality, it's a bot, even though they're getting more convincing because of AI, I think you can smell a bot a mile away.

Yup. That's what I mean, no harm being done but words, and none of us here are that stupid. So best to see if they reply to any of us, a day or 2, and if the action continues 86 them. But we should be sure, like finding out 3-4 new members using the same ISP host.

But here, everything was done perfectly, they were given chances to post and reply to us while quietly things were noticed. No harm no foul. If anything, they also further expose themselves as propagandist idiots.
