... put on a hot dog? I think there are more variations of toppings of hot dogs than any other food. I’m curious what you all do.

No ketchup! Portillos ketchup is for the fries or burgers! Blasphemy! LOL!

In Chicago, hot dogs are topped with yellow mustard, green relish, chopped onions, tomato wedges, a pickle, sport peppers and celery salt. They are never to be topped with ketchup. The rule is almost religion in the city, to the dismay of ketchup maker Heinz.

Indeed. Mustard is fine, ketchup is to 'cover up.'

Yellow mustard, Saurcrout and if available, baked beans in honey.

I like chili dogs and kraut dogs.

@Kathianne what is that under the green peppers? Looks like a slice of pickle or cucumber.

Back when I ate red meat, I loved chili dogs. And what we called “ketchup onions” by Sabrett. I’m sure @jimnyc knows what I mean. Thinking I’d never see it again, I recently found it on Amazon and have a bottle now.

On my turkey dogs I also like a ton of Dijon mustard, and sweet relish.

AT, my daughter likes baked beans on hers too.

Could be either. It adds more texture. I'm not big on hot dogs, but my kids are-like religion. LOL!

Not in AZ and never heard of it in IL.

Portillo's is the real deal Chicago hot dog that has become national chain. Most of the 'holies of holies' are shacks or strip mall type of places-whether city or suburbs. Truly that I know of, the only 'restaurant of nice' is Portillo's. Most are order and walk off. The few that have sit down are likely cheap patio like or diner like.
