It only helps Americans know where nominees stand on important issues. It only presents the candidates to Americans. It only showcases their smarts, abilities & knowledge.

And it will only show the cognizance level of the folks on stage too.

New York Times Op-ed: ‘Let’s Scrap the Presidential Debates’

The New York Times published an op-ed Monday morning titled “Let’s Scrap the Presidential Debates,” arguing that they play too great a role in helping voters choose the president.

Journalist Elizabeth Drew assures readers that she is not worried that Biden will lose the debates.

“This, by the way, isn’t written out of any concern that Donald Trump will prevail over Joe Biden in the debates; Mr. Biden has done just fine in a long string of such contests,” she writes.

The point, she says, is that the debates are meaningless — “that ‘winning’ a debate, however assessed, should be irrelevant, as are the debates themselves.”

She argues:

Nervous managers of the scheduled 2020 presidential debates are shuffling the logistics and locations to deal with the threat of the coronavirus. But here’s a better idea: Scrap them altogether. And not for health reasons.

The debates have never made sense as a test for presidential leadership. In fact, one could argue that they reward precisely the opposite of what we want in a president. When we were serious about the presidency, we wanted intelligence, thoughtfulness, knowledge, empathy and, to be sure, likability. It should also go without saying, dignity.

Yet the debates play an outsize role in campaigns and weigh more heavily on the verdict than their true value deserves.

Okay, I completely understand the left's desire to keep Biden away from live TV and Donald Trump. Not rocket science

However, I have called for the Republicans to quit having debates since the 80s. They come out with this "we're taking the high road" mentality then take the low road destroying each others' viability before they ever get to a Dem.

Yes, it is self-serving for the left THIS time. They usually get to walk in with guns loaded by Republican debates, so it's BS. I am STILL all for it. Scrap the debates. I haven't learned one thing from a single one of them going back to Ford-Carter. I learned more from the "Ford-Carter" debate as played out on SNL by Dan Ackroyd and Chevy Chase

Brian Stelter Is Gaslighting You About CNN’s Push for Biden to Skip Debates

After far-left CNN aired a segment urging Joe Biden to skip the presidential debates, CNNLOL’s Brian Stelter falsely claimed this narrative is fueled by “right-wing media.”

Yes, the basement-rated Stelter, a left-wing anti-Trump activist and a proven liar who regularly spreads conspiracy theories, was again shining his gaslight Monday night with another deliberate attempt to deceive the public.

Responding to a tweet where Townhall’s Guy Benson asked, “This ‘Biden shouldn’t debate’ boomlet is just a media tempest, right? Right?,” Stelter responded with, “It is mostly a right-wing media tempest, fueled by hour after hour of Fox commentary (not reporting), far removed from campaign reality…”

And yet it was just a couple days ago when former Bill Clinton Press Secretary Joe Lockhart appeared on CNNLOL to urge Biden to skip the debates.

Oh, and Lockhart’s CNNLOL appearance happened just days after Lockhart published a piece urging Biden to skip the debates at — you guessed it — CNNLOL [emphasis original].

Whatever you do, don’t debate Trump. Trump has now made more than 20,000 misleading or false statements according to the Washington Post. It’s a fool’s errand to enter the ring with someone who can’t follow the rules or the truth. Biden will undoubtedly take heat from Republicans and the media for skipping the debates. But it’s worth the risk as trying to debate someone incapable of telling the truth is an impossible contest to win.

But wait. There’s more…

Over this same weekend, the far-left New York Times published an op-ed urging the cancellation of this year’s presidential debates. On top of that, whatever is left of the far-left Newsweek also published a piece about the boomlet of support for the idea of Biden skipping the debates.

A number of Democrats, including Bill Kristol, are urging that the debates be canceled.

A former senior adviser to Hillary Clinton agrees: “Biden shouldn’t feel obligated to throw Trump a lifeline by granting him any debates at all. This is not a normal presidential election and Trump is not a legitimate candidate,” Zac Petkanas tweeted last week.

And then there’s Thomas Friedman, an anti-Trump New York Times columnist, who urged Biden just last week not to debate the president unless Trump agrees to “two conditions.” Of course those conditions are ridiculous — Trump must release his tax returns and agree to “real-time fact checking” during the debate — and will never be agreed to, and therefore ensure there will be no debates.

So there’s no question Biden supporters and the media are colluding to lay the groundwork for Biden to announce a withdrawal from the debates in a way that will do the least amount of damage to his presidential campaign. So the question is, why is Brian Stelter lying about this being the product of the right-wing media?

I said they would try and continue the chaos all the way til November, try to toss away the debates and blame the virus, and also keep Joe away at all costs.

And that story is only growing, as more on the left get on the bandwagon to forget the debates... and to protect Joe at all costs and minimize him harming himself.

Feeble Biden Won’t Travel to Milwaukee For DNC and Will Accept Presidential Nomination From His Delaware Basement – Cites ‘Ongoing Pandemic’

Joe Biden will no longer be traveling to Milwaukee to accept the Democrat nomination.

Biden is too feeble to travel.

The 77-year-old has been hiding in his basement since March.

He will be accepting the presidential nomination from his Delaware basement.

Biden once again used the Coronavirus as an excuse not to travel.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported:

Joe Biden won’t be traveling to Milwaukee for the 2020 Democratic National Convention.

And neither will any of the other speakers who will address the Aug. 17-20 convention, which will be virtual.

Convention organizers said Wednesday that Biden will accept the party’s presidential nomination from his home in Delaware.

In a statement, organizers said: “After ongoing consultation with public health officials and experts — who underscored the worsening coronavirus pandemic — the Democratic National Convention Committee announced today speakers for the 2020 Democratic National Convention will no longer travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in order to prevent risking the health of our host community as well as the convention’s production teams, security officials, community partners, media and others necessary to orchestrate the event.”

“From the very beginning of this pandemic, we put the health and safety of the American people first. We followed the science, listened to doctors and public health experts, and we continued making adjustments to our plans in order to protect lives. That’s the kind of steady and responsible leadership America deserves. And that’s the leadership Joe Biden will bring to the White House.” DNC Chair Tom Perez said.

Won’t hold events
Won’t go to the DNC convention
Won’t make Biden available to the press

Joe Biden was asked by Erol Barnett of CBS News if he’d taken a cognitive test during an interview on Wednesday morning.

Sleepy Biden was offended and lost it.

The longtime politician fired back at Barnett and asked if the black reporter was a junkie.

“No, I haven’t taken a test. Why the hell would I take a test? C’mon man. That’s like saying you, before you got in this program, if you take a test where you’re taking cocaine or not, what do you think, huh? Are you a junkie?”
