COVID isn't a joke. Some of my in-laws in Brazil have died of it. One was 91 years old, another was a cousin in her late 50s. There are some others also. In the USA, Mexico and Cuba, COVID deaths don't fit the definition of rampant. I'm sure some measures need to be taken. Bolsonaro was adamant that it was overhyped and referred to it as "a little cold", insisting that people stop whining about it. I know that Brazil was one extreme, but in no US state do COVID deaths seem rampant. I think if just SOME social distancing and maybe some mask usage takes place, that it's enough.
