Try eating breakfast just about anywhere in Latin America, even Cuba, and you'll notice being served a freshly killed pig, the egg yolks are more orange than yellow and the orange or sugar cane juice is freshly squeezed. My wife still can't get used to what passes for food here in the US. Even just a few hours drive into Mexico reveals a noticeable difference. The fruits and vegetables for sale at Mercado Juarez has similar labeling that you see for sale at the H.E.B. or Wal-mart, except that it wasn't picked green and "ripened" in transit. It was picked when almost ready to eat. Our groceries are not that good.
