Parler social media App - for anyone interested

@tailfins was kind enough to link to a few things to download to use the app outside of Apple and Google. Was easy for me, but I want to make it easier for my friends here that may be interested, so I can get you guys over there!

First thing you will likely want to do, is make it so that your phone will accept installing 3rd party applications outside of the markets. Hopefully these instructions are up to date enough to help.

(If you know things already, pass all this and go to the bottom where the download links are)

How to accept the install of 3rd party apps on Apple Iphones:

Manually install and trust an enterprise app

When you first open an enterprise app that you've manually installed, you see a notification that the developer of the app isn't trusted on your device. You can dismiss this message, but then you can't open the app.



After you dismiss this message, you can establish trust for the app developer. Tap Settings > General > Profiles or Profiles & Device Management. Under the "Enterprise App" heading, you see a profile for the developer.



Tap the name of the developer profile under the Enterprise App heading to establish trust for this developer.



Then you see a prompt to confirm your choice. After you trust this profile, you can manually install other apps from the same developer and open them immediately. This developer remains trusted until you use the Delete App button to remove all apps from the developer.



You must be connected to the Internet to verify the app developer's certificate when establishing trust. If you're behind a firewall, make sure that it's configured to allow connections to https://ppq.apple.com. If you aren't connected to the Internet when you trust an app, the device displays "Not Verified" instead. To use the app, connect to the Internet and tap the Verify App button.

After you verify an app for the first time, your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch must reverify the app developer's certificate periodically to maintain trust. If you can't reverify, you may see a message that verification will expire soon. To maintain trust, connect your device to the Internet, then tap the Verify App button or launch the app.

How to accept the install of 3rd party apps on Android

Install unknown apps permission option is located in the setting app. So…

At first, open the android default Setting app.
Then click on the new Apps and Notifications menu.
Now click the Special Access button. (follow below screenshot) (Gotta click on the 3 dot menu and then click special access on my Samsung phone)



Now click Install unknown apps. Then you can see your all app list.



Now click on the app you want to allow third party apps.
Now you can see a new screen like the below screenshot.



Now click the Allow from this source button.

Now your install third party app option is enabled. So, go back to your app and tap on an APK file. Now you can install any android apps on your phone.

This is a direct download here. It's from the Google App store, so it works. It's an APK file installer, or at least the one I use:

Well, not the 1st time I used a 3rd party app, so it was easy for me. But never had to do so due to censorship before.

** Would not surprise me if Google devises a way to detect the app on your phone and delete it. Now THAT would be going too far, but like I said, they basically control your phone in many ways if using Android, as I do of course.

I'm just grateful that our internet access isn't heavily rationed so that we can download the APKs instead of asking people in the town square if they would be kind enough to copy a needed APK to my jump drive. Imagine only having internet as wifi near a town square or university, somewhat slow, US$ 1 per GB and only in places where a cop can look over your shoulder to arrest you for viewing objectionable content, which means constantly looking behind you or having a mirror in the corner of your laptop.

Always a way to shut them down if they want, trust me!

First things I noticed is that their nameservers resolve to cloudflare.com. But they can build their own DNS servers. But something somewhere is always tied to services. I also noticed that they registered the domain gab.com with epik.com domain services. Much more rare, but they can do things to the domain, but that's more difficult and as stated, more rare.

But they do have a nice setup and much more sturdy than others and more in house services.

I just registered there and am using Parler as well. Amazon may cut them for a bit but they'll be back.

That may be but didn't seem to be the time frame referenced. FWIW I think the campaign that trump ran was abysmal; at least from the ads that I was seeing and the debate performances. That he didn't lose by that much is fairly impressive... of course that's gone down the toilet. The Loeffler and Perdue ads for the runoff weren't much better either but maybe all the other side had to do was point out stock trades and agree with trump about $2000 checks.

Why would anyone want to stay with a company that is so fickle?

And the thing about QAnon ... so what if they are conspiracists? We have a forum here for conspiracies. We don't ban people for saying what they want. If GAB sees anyone posting illegal things they report it to LE. Why ban people because they want to talk about stuff they're concerned about? Give it light so it can be dissected. The more platforms try to ban it the more they feed the conspiracy. I have to tell you I wasn't that interested in QAnon until the last 48 hours and now I want to go find out what all the fuss is about .... precisely because they've been banned.

You can certainly wish for TOS to be applied equally, I'm not hopeful. But the starting point is not to defend trump 4 days ago it's to present good conservative thought and not abandon one thing for another. It's another shift to tribalistic behavior; CNN for liberals Fox for conservatives, twitter for liberals parler for conservatives. It's a long-term losing strategy IMO.

That's a ridiculous comparison. If anyone were shocked by buffoonish behavior then they'd spend there entire life in a state of catatonic shock. We all see incredibly buffoonish behavior 365 days a year.

I totally disagree with two things you just said:

1. "private enterprises" - I consider Twitter and Facebook to now be utilities, used as a common method of communication and with little in the way of alternatives. The fact that Parler, one of the few alternatives, is being hindered from access for most people is evidence that they want to preserve their oligopoly/monopoly status.

2. "taking action against buffoonish behavior" - the amount of hate-filled, violent, and inappropriate messaging Twitter and Facebook has allowed over the years is a ton. Just the calls to riot last year that they left up was a ton. The only thing that is different now is the Trump factor. He's virtually the only thing they've ever filtered.

I'm not even a follower, but I can see what Twitter and Facebook's motivations are, and I don't like what will come next if they are allowed to selectively filter what everyone's allowed to say and allowed to hear. At the very least, both should be regulated as utilities. And maybe they are in restraint of trade and should be trust busted.
