Default Russia's Mockery of the Olympics

I'm going to try and get this story right: During the Sochi Olympics (winter, 2016?) The Russians pulled a new one in the area of doping. They hosted the winter games. So they had a building of some sort right next door to where they urinalysis drug test lab was. Right out of an Alistair MacLean Cold War spy novel, they cut a hole in the lab wall and would go in nightly and swap out the samples of their athletes with clean ones

Yes, I DO find that funny The audacity to pull such a damned grade school, spy novel stunt at the Olympic World Stage level AND ALMOST GET AWAY WITH IT just shows where the Russians are in their heads. But, they eventually did get busted. So, Russia, as a Nation is officially not allowed to compete in the Olympics for who knows how long.

Stop them? Nope. Russian athletes who test clean are STILL allowed to compete as IOC Team competitors No Russian flag nor anthem. So, they show up wearing PT gear that is the Russian tricolor, and play Tchaicovsky (sp) in lieu of the anthem. And they wonder why people just quit watching this crap.

In the meantime, Russia officially, with its usual smirk in place, is playing victim.

Yet we are supposed to take the Olympics and the IOC seriously.

More implied US virtue signalling whilst accusing Russia of dastardly cheating crimes .

Any event associated with big money produces cheats . All sports and everywhere . And also all non related sports events and also everywhere .

But the US has upped its game and moved on from cheating at Sport . It now simply marches into a country , takes its resources and leaves it in pieces.

Real and big time cheating measured in trillions of dollars .

Poor US . So hard done by and innocent .

    Cry babies .

You're a little out there aren't ya? Would seem a British chap wouldn't have much high ground in regards to imperialism.

Did not know I had been voted to represent British interests -- let alone justify our history .

But if you want to support the rape of a country by citing previous rapes and rapists please leave me out of that type of cheating narrative and pseudo analysis .

And why do you address a woman as a 'chap' . Is this another example of dumbing down the language ? .

My mistake. The thread took a very strange turn from complaints about ROC olympians to accusations of American behavior. I would suggest if imperialism is to be a topic of conversation then imperialism by any country would be fair game.

    Assume much?

DO note that I am not the United States. I AM a US citizen.

And guess what? I am SO loving this I want to drag it out some. Here's your link from where I got the info https://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/58023171

WHO is "virtue signaling"? THAT link looks an AWFUL LOT like the BRITISH Broadcasting Company. This is where you go pound sand.

I was looking for news to post, Ran across this article on BBC. I'm a weightlifter so I was interested.

didn't know I now represent the entire US's opinion of Russia

As far as the topic goes. I thought banned meant banned. All you have to do is change your name and say you didn't do it? The terminal victim that Russia is, this has to play right up their alley.

I can't help but laugh though at the grade school, 1950s Cold War tactics the Russians still use. Cutting a hole in the wall

The not so funny part is the IOC is threatening to drop weightlifting as an Olympic sport because of the doping. It isn't just Russia. I've been around weightlifting for about 45 years now. If China's not doping then I've never lifted a weight
