Default Since This Started With a Song

"Music" cuz we don't have a "How Dumbass Were You Today?" subforum

I hear this song. "Don't Go". I think it sounds late 60s - early 70s R&B. So I run through all the bands I can think of and I can't put this song to one of them. I've heard it before over the years. So, I do the dreaded "look it up".

"Don't Go" by K.C. & the Sunshine Band. You mean "Shake Your Booty", disco K.C. & the Sunshine Band? Yeppers. The very same. It gets dumber

I'm looking through the list of the musicians in the band and NONE have the initials "K.C.". Not even inverted. Meanwhile, 3 days later, I'm out having a smoke and it clicks: the lead singer's name is "Something Wayne *CASEY*.

Nope. No reason at all to enlarge and brighten up that little gem. Not with Maxwell Smart here on the job

Default Gunny...this one I remember from the 50's....THE DRIFTERS...Is this the one you mean?

There was a later version of that sung by a girl and a guy too!

I may be older than most. I may say things not everybody will like.
But despite all of that. I will never lower myself to the level of Liars, Haters, Cheats, and Hypocrites.

Not it. BUT that's about the genre I was looking in. This is a reminder to me that one can go almost 62 without knowing some things and be just fine

The lead singer wrote the song during a break because he was sick of disco. KC of the Sunshine Band being sick of disco? That's like a cowboy being sick of cows. If anyone said KC and the Sunshine Band back then the first word in your head was "disco", followed by "Shake Your Booty"

The only thing I found even remotely interesting is that unbeknown to me at the time, I lived in Miami and KC is from Hialeah, about 40 min north of where I lived. He surely was not touted locally as the hometown boy

Disco and the "discoteque" were originally gay music and gay dance clubs. A perfect example of MSM foisting an entire minority lifestyle onto the general public, even back then. You listened to what the disc jockey played and thought that was what was "in".

I had a GF at one point that drooled over KC. And that pretty much sums up me and disco. Although, I do like the BeeGees, their disco music not so much.

I certainly heard that song back in the day. It’s a veritable masterpiece compared to this piece of utter trash I had the misfortune to hear on the radio this weekend. You might want to NOT turn up the volume, lol.

Thnks but I'm not going to even play THAT

I love music. "Just noise" annoys me ot the point that I have found (back in the day) on cross country road trips all I had to do to stay away driving at 2 AM was put on rap. Just don't wake up and try talking to me while I'm driving and being irritated by the jungle junk

Having heard it, I don’t think it has anything to do with the jungle, lol.

Seemed OK... until the "singing" started. And then I lost interest.

Can you believe a DJ chose to play that this weekend?

Nothing on the conspiratorial DJs that played "My-freakin'-sharona" every other damned song for it seems like years

No, but I heard they are willing to recreate for a select audience.
