NIH changes story, confirms it funded Wuhan experiment that made bat coronavirus more dangerous

Key scientist says admission shows that top administrators, including former NIH Director Francis Collins and NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, "lied to Congress, lied to the press, and lied to the public" in denying NIH funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan.

Two weeks after National Institutes of Health director Francis Collins announced his retirement, his agency has complicated congressional testimony by Collins and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci about alleged gain-of-function virus research sponsored by the U.S.

Both officials have denied approving grants for such research through the EcoHealth Alliance and Wuhan Institute of Virology, but a letter Wednesday from NIH Principal Deputy Director Lawrence Tabak to House Oversight Committee ranking Republican James Comer describes an unforeseen experimental result that calls the denials into question.

The letter shows that "NIH — and specifically, Collins, Fauci, and Tabak — lied to Congress, lied to the press, and lied to the public," Richard Ebright, lab director at Rutgers University's Waskman Institute of Microbiology, tweeted Wednesday night when sharing the letter. "Knowingly. Willfully. Brazenly."



The final progress report submitted by EcoHealth in August described a "limited experiment" in which a modified bat coronavirus made mice "sicker" than the original virus, Tabak told Comer. "As sometimes occurs in science, this was an unexpected result of the research, as opposed to something that the researchers set out to do."

NIH determined the proposed research didn't meet the standard for "enhanced pathogens of pandemic potential" because it wasn't shown these bat coronaviruses could infect humans. But "out of an abundance of caution" it required EcoHealth to "immediately" report "a one log increase in growth" if it happened, which would trigger a secondary review of the research by NIH.

EcoHealth didn't do that, Tabak wrote, and it now has five days to turn over "any and all unpublished data" from the research to NIH.

The letter repeatedly emphasizes the viruses studied under the EcoHealth grant and "subaward" to the Wuhan lab "could not have become SARS-CoV-2" because the "sequences of the viruses are genetically very distinct."

Reporting last month by The Intercept confirms that EcoHealth violated the NIH grant terms "at least four" times, Ebright tweeted earlier this month.

NIH put out a statement Wednesday on "misinformation" about COVID-19 origins that emphasizes "the virus is likely the result of viral evolution in nature" and not developed as a "biological weapon." It does not mention EcoHealth's violation of grant terms or the creation of a virus that made mice sicker.

Anyone with a brain could always tell that Fauci was lying when Rand Paul was questioning him during his testimony to Congress. Rand Paul kept asking "did you fund the Covid virus testing at the Wuhan Lab?" and Fauci kept saying "no, I never funded 'Gain of Function' testing". Fauci kept inserting the 'Gain of Function' phrase in his denials.

What Fauci was really saying was that yes, he funded the Wuhan tests, but by some obscure technicality a biased person in full CYA mode could contort the definition of 'Gain of Function' to a wild enough extent that you could say the Wuhan tests didn't fully count as 'Gain of Function' if you looked at it from the right angle and were a liar or Democrat (sorry for the redundancy).

What this proves more than anything else is that Anthony Fauci is a complete liar, even when he has just sworn to tell the truth and is on TV. He's also willing to call Rand Paul a liar even though he knows Rand Paul is telling the truth.

I find it extremely disturbing that Anthony Fauci the liar is being held by this administration as the ultimate source of truth for information related to Covid. He should be held up as the ultimate source of lies.

Fauci should immediately be fired in disgrace now that we have proof he was lying to Congress and the world. He should also be held in Contempt of Congress, and should be sued by every human being that has lost health or a loved one due to Covid, and every business that has lost more than 3 dollars worth of revenue. I would also encourage the IRS to do a Super Audit of his taxes going back 15 years, and the FBI should throw him in jail and confiscate all his bank accounts, just like it did to Michael Flynn when he lied under oath. Fauci should also be forced to serve as the 'human pinata' for all kids birthday parties in the month of October.

The more I learn of Fauci, the more I agree with his nickname of 'The Covid Gnome'.

This guy and his merry crew of mad scientists directly had a hand in creating this bug indeed, even illegally funding the efforts to create it. China is more to blame with the escape from the lab and subsequent coverup and aiding the spread worldwide, but these cartoonish villians own a very large amount of blame.


Nothing will happen to him from his perjury until the next election, but I'm feeling pretty good about things once Rand Paul, McConnell and Cruz are behind the wheel.

Rand Paul's stock with me personally has shot up exponentially. He's one of my favorite politicians... possibly even #1. Trey Gowdy used to be my favorite, but unfortunately he's not there slugging it out for us anymore.
