I used to like Dashboard Confessional, my favorite album being The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most. I didn't really care for their full-band sound, though, it sounded too generic to me.

Here's what I've gotten lately (meaning in the past couple months)....

Eisley - Combinations: I really like Eisley, and as a 24-year-old guy, that's tough to admit, because everything about it really screams "girl music". But, whatever, I like it, and when I saw them in concert in August, all the emo girls there thought I was cool because most guys don't like Eisley. So, y'know, if you're ever looking for a way to get 17-20 year old girls to like you, there you go.

Rilo Kiley - Under the Blacklight: This was a pretty major change from their previous albums (all of which, admittedly, sound a lot different from each other). Jenny Lewis's voice is too confident for me now if that makes any sense at all. Don't quote me on this, but I think the band'll probably break up soon, Jenny clearly enjoyed making music on her own too much. Ironically, Blake Sennet's only song on the album, "Dreamworld", is my favorite.

Michael Ian Black - I am a Wonderful Man: This is a comedy CD, obviously. I like MIB a lot, but this was a little more mediocre than I was expecting. It's okay, but he's capable of much funnier stuff. I think this was geared more toward his mainstream audience (fans of I Love the 80's and Sierra Mist) more so than fans of his weirder stuff (Stella, The State).

Midlake - The Trials of Van Occupanther: Very cool stuff, it's got a very 70's sound. If I had to compare it to anything, I'd say it sounds slightly like Fleetwood Mac's darker, weirder stuff ("Gold Dust Woman", etc.). It loses momentum in the second half, but the first five songs or so are outstanding.

Sweet. I used to have a real nice Acoustic Research (now owned by Audiovox) belt drive. As nice as CDs can be, there is something magical about the old vinyl.
