I disagree. As pointed out in the OP, no matter what else happens, it's a suicide mission. Getting yourself killed for nothing more than the proverbial "15 minutes of fame" is pointless. If you plan on surrendering, your name will be up and lights for as long as the media circus surrounding you is crucifying you. Once sentenced and locked away, you'll be forgotten when the left concocts its next "crisis".
You serve your family/children no purpose dying for nothing. You're gone and they're still left to deal. Question is, how much of your family's lives are dependent on you daily to survive? The less dependent they are, the lower the bar.
You can't protect your family if you aren't there. What purpose do you serve if in your effort to protect them you throw them to the wolves and they're worse off than before?
